Netflix has released the trailer for the much-awaited Vikings: Valhalla. From 2013 to 2020, the original Vikings aired on History Channel and is available to stream on Amazon Prime. Valhalla is the sequel to the original series. It is set hundreds of years after the events of the original show. This series is a brand-new adventure that marries some historical authenticity with drama and a lot of action.

Based on the trailer alone, the expectations of Valhalla seem to already be met. Like its predecessor, it has everything that kept viewers glued to their screens including brutal battles, blood, multi-layered characters, and top-notch immersive experiences through high-value production.

Set over a thousand years ago in the early 11th century, Vikings: Valhalla chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived — the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson, his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter, and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson. As tensions between the Vikings and the English royals reach a bloody breaking point and as the Vikings themselves clash over their conflicting Christian and pagan beliefs, these three Vikings begin an epic journey that will take them across oceans and through battlefields, from Kattegat to England and beyond, as they fight for survival and glory.

Due to the time difference between the original and the sequel, it’s not likely that there will be a huge intersection between the two shows although there might be the mention of some of Vikings great characters in passing.

The cast includes Sam Corlett (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Leif Eriksson, Frida Gustavsson (The Witcher) as Freydis Eriksdotter, Laura Berlin as Emma of Normandy, Leo Suter as Harald Sigurdsson, Caroline Henderson as Jarl Hakoon among others.

Jeb Stuart is set as showrunner and executive producer. Morgan O’Sullivan, Michael Hirst, Sheila Hockin, Steve Stark, James Flynn, John Weber, Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer and Paul Buccieri will also serve as executive producers.

Vikings: Valhalla will premiere on Friday, February 25 on Netflix with all episodes available for streaming. In the meantime, watch the thrilling trailer below.
