In a new video posted on his Instagram account today, Vin Diesel shared some updates about the next installment of the next film in the Fast and Furious franchise. The franchise is 9 movies strong since its start in 2001 and it has seen massive growth in the last two decades from a street racing film to one of the major blockbuster hits.

Diesel shared that principal photography is set to begin very soon and added that the upcoming 10th installment has “great cast additions that’s gonna make this episode really, really, really exciting.” He however never went into deeper details about the cast addition

One thing that’s for sure though is that fans can rule out Dwayne Johnson’s return to the franchise. Despite Diesel’s public ask, Johnson refused to ever return to the franchise. This can be majorly attributed to the ongoing feud between the two actors. It doesn’t seem like the franchise is going to take a hit anyway since the list of actors who would want to appear on the film is quite figuratively endless.

With the 10th installment about to go into production soon, the 11th installment will go into production soon after. These two films have been deemed a turning point for this story and thus they will be shot back-to-back. Through these films, fans will get to see the “la Familia” go off for one final ride.

A major revelation was made during F9 with the return of one of the original actors – Sung Kang. Kang is expected to appear in F10 if the film decides to keep the previous characters from F9. Charlize Theron’s (Mad Max, The Old Guard) character – Viper, is also expected to be the main villain for both films.

Recently it was announced that Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, See, Dune, Aquaman) had been cast in the film in an unspecified role. Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and Samantha Vincent are set to return.

The film will be directed by Justin Lin. The official plot and synopsis are yet to be released. More casting announcements are expected to be released in the coming months as the film comes together.

F10 is expected in theatres on May 10, 2023
