Vincent D’Onofrio Says He Would Like to Play Swamp Thing in the DCU and the Fans Are Loving It
Vincent D’Onofrio is definitely a big name in Hollywood. And while he has had some interesting movie appearances (the most notable of which is that of “Gomer” Pyle in Full Metal Jacket), he made a career on television, playing – first – Robert Goren in Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and then later Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, in Marvel’s television shows.
D’Onofrio became a fan-favorite after appearing in Marvel’s series, and while he is set to reprise his role in Daredevil: Born Again, the actor has also expressed his desire to enter another major fictional universe, namely Warner’s DCU, and we now know who he would like to play.
There have been several actors who appeared in both cinematic universes, so this is not strange, and while we don’t really know if this will happen like this, the fans are quite excited, as this seems to be a great opportunity for both D’Onofrio and the character in question!
In a recent appearance at Dragon Con (via @JeremyJLop on X), D’Onofrio spoke about comic book movies, and while he did say that he likes Marvel because he works on a Marvel project, he also said that he was a big DC fan and he even revealed the character he would like to play in the DCU if given the opportunity:
“I don’t know if you guys are into DC [Comics] like I am. Obviously, I’m into Marvel, too, because that’s my job. My comic books when I was a kid was Captain America, Spider-Man, Swamp Thing, and Batman. So Swamp Thing.”
This is definitely something major, and we honestly think that D’Onofrio would do an amazing job as Swamp Thing in the DCU, so we hope that Gunn is listening and that D’Onofrio will get his chance sometime in the future. And if you think we’re alone in our opinion, here’s what the fans think (and yes, everyone wants to see this happen):
One of the most underrated actors that's ever been in the MCU, he would absolutely crush this role and has the perfect voice for it as well
