SEGA has a long history with Nvidia, so it’s no surprise that CEO Jensen Huang shared a brief look at the new ‘Virtua Fighter’ game during the CES 2025 event. The footage, labeled as in-engine and likely in early development, showcased incredibly smooth animations, with moves flowing together seamlessly.

Huang enthusiastically introduced the project, saying, ‘This is the new Virtua Fighter project. I just can’t wait!

‘Virtua Fighter,’ created by Yu Suzuki, was the first 3D fighting game and influenced series like ‘Tekken’ and ‘Dead or Alive.’ Although it hasn’t been in the spotlight recently, SEGA is working to revive it. They’ve started new esports competitions and updated the PS4 game ‘Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown.’

The new game is being developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, known for the ‘Like a Dragon’ series. While it may be a few years before it’s released, the early footage suggests something special is in the works.

The brief glimpse of the new ‘Virtua Fighter’ game has generated excitement among us. The combination of SEGA’s commitment to reviving the franchise and the expertise of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio hints at a promising future for the series.

As we await more information, the anticipation continues to build. The return of ‘Virtua Fighter’ could mark a significant moment in the world of fighting games, bringing a classic series back into the spotlight with modern enhancements.
