Who Is Doctor Aphra & Is She In The Book Of Boba Fett?

The Book of Boba Fett, with its new episode, introduced a new character that seems familiar to those who read the comics and unfamiliar to those who don’t catch up with everything about the Star Wars universe. That character is the black Wookiee Black Krrsantan. However, in the comics, Black Krrsantan has also spent time working with another character named Doctor Aphra. But who is Doctor Aphra, and is she in The Book of Boba Fett?

Doctor Chelli Aphra is an archaeologist who has an amoral sense of looking at things. She sees the gray areas rather than black or white. She also has her own spin-off comic book due to her popularity. She may make an appearance in The Book of Boba Fett in connection with her friendship with Black Krrsantan.

Even though she was just a secondary character during her introduction, Doctor Aphra became one of the most popular characters ever introduced by the Marvel-released Star Wars comics, despite the fact that she has never been seen on screen. However, it won’t be a surprise if Disney uses The Book of Boba Fett as a gateway to introduce Doctor Aphra, just like how The Mandalorian was used to reintroduce Boba Fett.

Who Is Doctor Aphra?

One of the things that The Book of Boba Fett isn’t shy about is introducing new characters to the Star Wars cinematic universe. With the release of episode 2, some fans were introduced to the black Wookiee named Black Krrsantan, who was already introduced in the Marvel-released Star Wars comics back in 2015.

The introduction of Black Krrsantan, who is popular in his own right in the comics, made fans wonder whether or not a new character that was introduced in the comics will also see their time on the screen. We are talking about Doctor Aphra, who has spent time with Black Krrsantan, who she calls Black K, in her adventures in the comics. But who exactly is Doctor Aphra?

If you were to reimagine a Star Wars version of Indiana Jones, then you would get Doctor Chelli Aphra. Like Jones, Aphra is an archeologist. However, her work is much larger because she travels the entire galaxy instead of just traveling on a single planet. Aside from the fact that she is a galactic archaeologist, there is also one thing that makes Doctor Aphra different from Indiana Jones.

Unlike the morally good Indiana Jones, Doctor Aphra is more amoral in her approach. That means that she doesn’t care whether she is doing something good or bad as long as she gets what she gets her results. In a sense, she is one of the morally gray characters in the Star Wars series, which is full of narratives about white vs. black and good vs. bad.

Doctor Aphra was first introduced in the canon in the Darth Vader comics when the dark lord of the Sith personally recruited her to create a personal droid army. In that sense, she has worked for and with Darth Vader, but that doesn’t make her a bad character.

On top of working for Vader, Aphra also had a few run-ins with the good guys in the sense that she fought alongside characters like Luke and Leia at certain points in her story. However, she is better known as the partner or friend of the black Wookiee named Black Krrsantan, who was just recently introduced to The Book of Boba Fett as a new character as far as the live-action version of Star Wars is concerned.

Doctor Aphra has served as a friend of some sort to Black Krrsantan, who she likes calling Black K. In a way, the black Wookiee has served as the traveling body and bodyguard of the archeologist during her travels around the galaxy. So, if Han Solo has Chewbacca, Doctor Aphra has Black Krrsantan.

However, given the fact that Black K is already underemployment with the Hutts in The Book of Boba Fett, he and Doctor Aphra may have gone their separate ways at one point in the past. And that might be something that The Book of Boba Fett will introduce.

Will Doctor Aphra Be In The Book Of Boba Fett?

The reason why the introduction of Black K in The Book of Boba Fett is so intriguing is the fact that the black Wookiee was almost always seen with Doctor Aphra in the comics. So, as interesting of a character as Black Krrsantan may be, Doctor Aphra is just as interesting and is even more popular. She is one of the most popular characters in the comics, despite the fact that she has never been seen on the screen.

Given the fact that Doctor Aphra is popular and that Black Krrsantan is in The Book of Boba Fett, does that mean that she will also be in the series as well? As of now, there is nothing that would indicate that Doctor Aphra will be making her on-screen debut in The Book of Boba Fett. However, there is a good chance that this will happen.

Some fans indicate that the introduction of Black Krrsantan will be a way for Disney to introduce Doctor Aphra to the Star Wars cinematic franchise, especially considering that she is so popular in the comics. The showrunners might do what The Mandalorian did when Boba Fett made a cameo appearance as a way to reintroduce the bounty hunter. 

In a way, there is a possibility that Doctor Aphra will make an appearance in The Book of Boba Fett in line with the Black K storyline so that Disney could ease her into the Star Wars cinematic universe. And depending on how they handle her character, we might even see Doctor Aphra branching out with her own series, just like how she now has her own comic book series.

Who Will Star As Doctor Aphra In Live-Action?

As of now, there is no news regarding who will be playing Doctor Aphra in the live-action The Book of Boba Fett series. That’s because there isn’t even a confirmation that she would be making an appearance.

Are Doctor Aphra Comics Canon?

The reason why some fans are positive that Doctor Aphra will be making an appearance on the screen is the fact that she is part of the new canon in Star Wars. That’s because she was introduced after Disney acquired the rights to Star Wars. 

It is also interesting to note that the Star Wars: Darth Vader comics, published by Disney-owned Marvel Comics, is described by its Fandom page as a “canon trade paperback.” Going back to our point, Doctor Aphra was first introduced to Star Wars in the Darth Vader comics. Considering that the Darth Vader comics are canon, that means that Doctor Aphra and her own spin-off comics are also part of the main canon.
