Of course, while this was a fairly controversial story during the early part of the 2010s, not a lot of people are aware of what Moore did.

In a nutshell, Hunter Moore ran a website called IsAnyobodyUp, which started as a website for those who love clubbing. However, the site eventually became a “revenge porn” website when Moore posted a nude photo of a girl he dated through the website as he realized that he could make money out of what he was doing.

Moore began posting naked photos of different people by working with a hacker that could get into the files of a person’s computer so that they could post private photos online out of revenge for their exes. The photos became controversial because they included the person’s full name, city, social media profile, and profession, as Moore wasn’t even apologetic because he was making $30,000 a day on ads. Moore said that it wasn’t the most ideal profession, but he loved the smell of the money that he was making from the website.

Eventually, Charlotte Laws, the mother of a girl whose photo was posted on the website, began compiling evidence that led to Hunter Moore getting raided and arrested by the FBI. Moore pleaded guilty in 2015 and was sentenced to two years and six months in prison.

During the height of Hunter Moore’s infamy, Kirra Hughes was actually his girlfriend. She was born and raised in Encinitas before she moved to San Francisco at the age of 18 so that she could study fashion design.

Hughes met Moore when she attended a party that he was throwing, considering that he was already making a lot of money from the traffic that his website was getting during the early 2010s. When Hughes met Moore, she said that there was an instant attraction between the two of them.

She booked a one-way ticket to New York so that she could leave the life she had with Moore and start over while pursuing her own career. In 2014, Moore was finally indicted by the FBI on charges of conspiracy, unauthorized access to a protected computer, and aggravated identity theft. He pleaded guilty in 2015 and was sent to prison.

After spending time in New York, Kirra Hughes said that she felt that this was where she belonged her entire life, even though she lived and grew up in California. In New York, she pursued a career in modeling and fashion designing.

“I refused to believe that what he was doing was wrong. For people who have been in love or that crazy first feeling, I was holding onto that so hard,” Kirra explained in episode three of The Most Hated Man on the Internet.

“I feel ashamed and upset, I just wish I had known better at the time, and one of my biggest regrets is not speaking up when I had a voice,” she added.

Kirra Hughes was obviously regretting not speaking up on behalf of the people that became the victims of Hunter Moore, as she now realizes that she should have left him earlier after seeing how wrong it was for him to take advantage of different people to make the kind of money he was making.
