After the Raid on Onigashima, Carrot was appointed by her lords, Nekomamushi and Inuarashi, to become the new leader of the Mokomo Dukedom. This means that she won’t be traveling with the Straw Hats to Laught tale. She is an ally of the Straw Hat Pirates during the Whole Cake Island Saga and Wano Country Arc, being part of the Sanji Retrieval Team on Whole Cake Island and continued on with the crew to Wano Country.
The rest of this article is going to focus solely on the character of Carrot from One Piece, as we are going to tell you about her story during the Whole Cake Island Saga and Wano Country Arc. We are going to tell you some information about this character, as well as his role in the whole story. We are also going to answer a series of relevant questions about Carrot.
Does Carrot become the new ruler of the Mokomo Dukedom and abandon the Straw Hats?
We know that Carrot joined the crew during the Whole Cake Island Saga, but analyzing her role in that Saga would be going too far back. This is why we are going to talk about Carrot’s role in the Wano Country Arc since it will give us both of the answers we are looking for in this article.
With the Thousand Sunny heading towards Wano, Carrot and the others tracked the Levely via the logs. Arriving on the shores of Wano, the changing weather destabilized the crew and a giant octopus arrived on the Sunny. The Sunny found itself climbing a waterfall, Luffy helping himself with two giant carp which provokes the admiration of Carrot, but when they arrived above a whirlwind, it caused them to capsize.
Sanji then carries Nami, Chopper, Brook, and Carrot to safety, however, they lose Luffy along the way along with the Sunny. The group then seeks to find Luffy, going so far as to dive to the bottom of Wano’s waters, but only find his Life Card. However, they reunite with Kin’emon afterward, who leads them to the ruins of Kozuki Oden Castle, where they finally reunite with Luffy.
Kin’emon was hidden there with Momonosuke, Law, and Kiku, an acquaintance of Kin’emon. Kin’emon announces to them that they come from the past, more exactly from twenty years earlier. Carrot listens to his explanation of their life twenty years ago and how they were sent to the future, then listens to Kin’emon’s plan to attack Onigashima Island in two weeks.
Kin’emon tells them about the Festival of Fire and the final battle, giving each party member a mission. Carrot, Kiku, and Chopper are on a mission to find Inuarashi who is due to arrive in Wano. After giving them new outfits suitable for Wano, Shinobu appears. When Kaido arrives in Kuri, Law then comes to raise the alarm.
The group is surprised to learn that Luffy, Zoro, and Law have already been discovered by the Beasts Pirates. The group then watches as Luffy leaves to protect Okobore Village and Law follows him. Kin’emon and Kiku leave to protect Tsuru, and the group then sees Kaido coming toward them in his dragon form. Kaido then destroys the ruins of Oden Castle in one fell swoop.
Sanji then saves Carrot and Nami as the rest of the group sinks into the ground thanks to Shinobu’s powers and is restrained by Chopper’s Guard Point form. Kiku then returns to find the group and informs them that Kaido has beaten Luffy and taken him prisoner. Carrot then reunites with Inuarashi who confronts Shutenmaru briefly. After Kin’emon decides to interrupt their fight, Carrot realizes that Shutenmaru seems to be on the same level as Inuarashi.
Later, Carrot and the Musketeer Squad steal food and weapons from the Hundred Beasts Pirates and leave a note saying that the Atamayama Thieves led by Shutenmaru are responsible for the thefts. In an abandoned village of Kuri, Carrot panics after hearing that the Beasts Pirates have discovered Kin’emon’s secret message.
Later, before the raid on Onigashima, Carrot, Wanda and Shishilian are present at the place where Pedro and Yasuie’s graves were placed. In Amigasa Village, Carrot marvels at the new armor received by Luffy, Brook, and Chopper. After Robin states that the entrance to Onigashima is in winter, Carrot explains to the group that the seasons are not consistent in Wano and that the cold climate would give the minks an advantage.
On the day of the Festival of Fire, Carrot joins the Straw Hats on the Thousand Sunny as they enter battle with the Beasts Pirates. Kanjuro flees the scene with Momonosuke behind him and briefly attacks the alliance with an inky cloud that rains down ink arrows. Momonosuke orders the alliance to head to Onigashima regardless of him.
As the alliance was attacked by a Beasts Pirates ship with long-range cannons, Jinbei then came to the rescue of the rebels. Like the Straw Hats, Carrot is also happy to see Jinbei again and hugs him. After the Straw Hats defeat the guards at the entrance gates, the alliance arrives in Onigashima. After disembarking, Carrot, like the other allies, receives a Hundred Beasts Pirates disguise from Kin’emon.
She then joins Chopper, Usopp, Nami, and Shinobu in the Brachio Tank V. The group in the tank and the Kin’emon forces reach the Pleasure Room belonging to Black Maria. Carrot, Shinobu, and Nami volunteer to fetch Momonosuke. After separating from the forces of Kin’emon and Brachio Tank V, they clash with Prometheus.
The three quickly flee from the homie as he calls out to Big Mom. However, Carrot, Nami, and Zeus are then captured and taken to the live stage. When Big Mom reunites with Luffy during the raid, Nami and Carrot break free from the homies holding them, Nami uses her Sorcery Clima-Tact, and Carrot uses the Electro-based attack Eleclaw.
When Carrot noticed Perospero with Marco and Big Mom, she rushed to the latter in order to avenge Pedro. Carrot, joined by Wanda, transforms into a sulong and attacks Perospero at the same time, injuring him in the eyes. Despite their incredible power, Wanda and Carrot were defeated by Perospero after they lost their Sulong form due to clouds covering the moon.
After the two recovered, they saw Sulong’s transformed Nekomamushi arrive to fight Perospero. Although they got worried when the storm clouds blocked the full moon and Nekomamushi returned and was badly injured by Perospero, Nekomamushi could quickly regain his Sulong form after the clouds parted due to the advanced Haoshoku Haki class clash, which he defeated Perospero with.
Back at the castle, they joined the renewed fight against the Beasts Pirates, who once again began fighting the Alliance forces. After the raid ended, Carrot was among the Alliance onlookers watching Kozuki Momonosuke announced as the next Shogun of Wano. Carrot smiles when he learns that Momo will now be the shogun.
A week later, Carrot was informed by Inuarashi and Nekomamushi that they were resigning as rulers of the Duchy of Mokomo and remaining in Wano, and decided to appoint Carrot as the next ruler due to his previous trip with Sanji’s recovery. The team and their experience of seeing the world was necessary for the new era. Although Carrot was shocked by this decision as there were other minks who were better qualified than her, the two reminded her that she possessed the same willpower that Pedro once had.
So, there you have it. Yes, Carrot does become the new ruler of the Mokomo Dukedom, as Nekomamushi and Inuarashi name their former Kingsberd as their successor. This also means that she won’t be traveling with Luffy and the gang, but she won’t be abandoning them. Namely, Carrot was never an official member of the crew, just an ally who traveled with them temporarily. Carrot definitely remains an ally of the Straw Hats, but she won’t be following them on their journeys.
