Will Smith Has Picked the Best Movie He’s Starred In (And No, It’s Not ‘Men in Black’!)

After the horrible incident at the Oscars when he assaulted Chris Rock because of a joke, Will Smith is slowly returning to the scene (the latest Bad Boys movie is out now, and the fans are loving it) and is trying to revitalize his career. The actor has effectively been blacklisted since the assault and has been struggling to land a decent job. Sure, the Bad Boys franchise brought him back, but that’s his own franchise, so it makes sense that the producers knew that replacing Smith wouldn’t do them much good. And so, we might be seeing him on screen again more frequently in the upcoming years.
Be that as it may, the actor has once again entered the spotlight and the media are more interested in him as well. In a recent talk in the First We Feast’s “Hot Ones” series, Will Smith talked about his career and he has also picked the best movie he’s starred in, if you thought it was Men in Black, you are wrong!
Will Smith has had a very prolific career and acted in various types of films and series. While he is best known for his comedic roles in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Men in Black, he has also played action roles, as well as complex drama roles; in fact, the role of Richard Williams in King Richard earned him an Oscar, which he won during the controversial ceremony during which the slapping incident happened.
During the aforementioned interview for the First We Feast’s “Hot Ones” series, Smith was asked about what he thought was the best movie he’s starred in, and this was his reply:
“I think the individual best movie, all around, that I’ve ever made is ‘The Pursuit of Happyness,’” Smith said. “Right behind that is the first ‘Men In Black.’ The direction, cinematography, and music… I think among the most fun I’ve ever had making a movie is like ‘Bad Boys’ and ‘Aladdin’ like just the most fun. If I had to put four of them in a time capsule it would be ‘The Pursuit of Happyness,’ the first ‘Men In Black,’ ‘I Am Legend,’ and probably ‘King Richard.'”

This might come off as a surprise to many fans, but it shouldn’t really, as The Pursuit of Happyness is a very special film in Smith’s career, so in that aspect, we shouldn’t really be so surprised. Sure, Men in Black and I Am Legend are also special, but they are genre movies that aren’t for everyone, while The Pursuit of Happyness is a drama with a universal message, and we can agree with Smith’s choice in this instance.
