‘Wonder Man’ Is Supposedly Going to be “Very Different,” Insider Reports
As you probably know, Marvel Studios is gearing up to release Wonder Man, a new series on Disney+ in December 2025. Wonder Man introduces us to Simon Williams, a Hollywood actor who gains superpowers and becomes Wonder Man.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, known for his roles in Aquaman and HBO’s Watchmen, takes on the lead role. Joining him is Ben Kingsley, reprising his Marvel role as Trevor Slattery. The series is expected to have eight to ten episodes.
It’s part of Marvel’s Phase Six and will be released under the Marvel Spotlight banner, which focuses on more character-driven stories. This fact could be the key to delivering a very fresh show, which is also at the center of a recent rumor by a popular rumor mill.
What makes Wonder Man unique is its blend of superhero action with a satirical look at Hollywood. The show delves into Simon Williams’ life as an actor who becomes a superhero, offering a meta-commentary on fame and the entertainment industry, and from what the rumor states, we could be in for a very different show:

Of course, this rumor doesn’t reveal much, and there is no reliable source there, but it could be a foreshadowing of something interesting, i.e., something that the fans might love and which might give us a different perspective on well-known Marvel moments.
The creative team includes Destin Daniel Cretton, known for directing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Andrew Guest, who has worked on Community. Their collaboration suggests a fresh and humorous take on the superhero genre.
In addition to Abdul-Mateen II and Kingsley, the cast features Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams, Simon’s brother, and Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan, Simon’s agent. This ensemble promises a dynamic range of characters to explore.
Wonder Man is part of a lineup of Marvel series set for release in 2025, including Daredevil: Born Again and Ironheart. Each aims to bring a unique flavor to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, expanding its storytelling horizons, so we’re hoping that the rumor is true.
