Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories Anime Confirms Season 10

Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories is the perfect show for horror and anime fans, especially those who know how to appreciate Japanese urban legends and macabre stories. Each episode is centered around a single horror story, involving urban horror stories set in contemporary time while some stories are based on Japanese myths.

Every season has 13 parts comprised of 5-minute episodes, while each story is different and told by an old man in a yellow mask. The old man shows up every day at 5 pm at a children’s playground and narrates the horror stories.  He uses kamishibai, which is a traditional Japanese paper drama that was a once very popular form of entertainment.

The anime series is based on the manga and is probably a rare horror gem in the anime genre. The series was first adapted in 2013 when the season premiered and the only thing that remains the same over the course of 8 years of airing the show is the old man Storyteller and the goosebumps we are getting from the cleverly told horror stories.
