It’s official. Paramount Network has renewed their hit TV show Yellowstone. The show follows the story of the Dutton family as they fight to keep their huge ranch from people who would love to see it disappear into modernization or into their hands. The Dutton’s have faced adversaries each after the other including their neighbors, the Broken Rock Indian Reservation who want their land back, investors who are eyeing large profits, and land developers also after profit.

Early on, it was a small show but as it progressed it went on to become one of the biggest hit shows on TV today. Season 4`s premiere in November of 2021 saw the highest ratings for any network show, a record that had been held by The Walking Dead premiere in 2017.

The success of Yellowstone has spawned a spinoff titled 1883 which follows the origin story of the Dutton’s as they moved to settle from civilization into “untamed” America in the 1800s. Another spinoff titled 6666 (pronounced as The Four Sixes) is reportedly in the works. It will focus on The Four Sixes Ranch in Texas which was introduced during the fourth season of Yellowstone. Taylor Sheridan is set to write and create all three shows. Earlier on it had been revealed that he had inked a multi-year deal with Paramount to create TV shows for their platform.

Yellowstone has become a game-changer for Paramount and affected their plans to shift their streaming platform effectively tilted Paramount+ into a movie-centric platform. However, with Yellowstone’s success, executives are reconsidering the move.
