Michael Rooker Has a Pretty Impressive Kill Count as Yondu in the MCU
Superheroes and other comic book characters typically deal a lot of damage when they battle. Of course, the superheroes don’t mean for this to happen, but whether they like it or not, damage and casualties do happen. However, there are instances when heroes intentionally kill because it is the only way to defeat their enemies and achieve victory.
Superheroes like Batman or Superman may embrace a “no-kill” policy, but this is an exception rather than a rule. Whether they are monsters, extraterrestrials, or other enemies, superheroes typically don’t hesitate to kill them.
In light of that, we are going to talk about the kill count of a very important comic book character, or, more specifically, about the kill count of his version from the MCU. The character in question is Yondu, a very interesting character, and a proper badass, as you will see from his confirmed kill count below.
The source for the data we have for you is a list from IMDb, composed by user Creedswede, who made an effort to chronicle the kill count of all major and minor MCU characters, with several important notes. Based on the data he has presented, Yondu’s kill count is as follows:
- Guardians of the Galaxy – 28
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – 209
- What If? – 25+ (voice)
- Total kills: 262+
Additionally, he appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, but had no recorded kills in these movies. Yondu is dead in the MCU so the likelihood of his kill count increasing in the future is very slim unless Marvel comes up with a way to bring the character back to life, but that doesn’t seem probable as of the time of writing.
Rooker himself has stated that he would like to return to the MCU, possibly in a different role, but, these are just rumors at this point and they are related to the future, so we’ll have to wait and see what actually happens in that aspect. We are, of course, going to update you as soon as we have any new information.
As for the numbers in question, with 262 confirmed kills in the MCU, Yondu is one of the most badass characters in the whole franchise. He surpasses most Avengers members, as well as a lot of villains, putting him on the list of MCU characters who have the highest number of confirmed on-screen kills. But, Yondu started his MCU career as an antagonist, so this actually makes a lot of sense.
These numbers have been updated as of Deadpool & Wolverine, where Yondu did not appear, so we can assume that they are accurate.
