‘Your Honor’: Showtime’s Hit Series Gets A Remake
When remakes are announced, it’s usually a show from another country getting remade for English audiences in the US. Such has been the case with Euphoria. This time, however, a US show is being remade for Spanish audiences. Variety reports that Showtime’s hit legal thriller Your Honor (US) is getting a remade by Atresmedia.
Atresmedia is a Spanish media giant that is known for producing a lot of Spanish content including Movistar Plus’ hit show Hierro. This time round they are joining forces with Portocabo to remake Your Honor (US) which in turn was also remade from the Israeli show Kvodo, created by Ron Ninio and Shlomo Mashiach.
This would make Atresmedia’s 3rd adaptation of an international scripted series. They have adapted British’s Liar to Mentiras, Turkey’s Anne to Heridas, and Turkey’s Fatmagul to Alba
Your Honor (US) premiered in December 2020 and was an instant hit with audiences. It stars Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) as a judge who finds himself on a tough spot after his son is involved in a hit and run which leaves the son of one of New Orleans’s top crime bosses dead. What follows is the judge disregarding everything he has tried to uphold in his long career in order to save his son.
Your Honor (US) was developed by Peter Moffat and was executive produced by Bryan Cranston. Due to it becoming a hit, it was renewed for a second season despite being categorized as a limited series.
Besides Cranston, the show starred Hunter Doohan as Adam Desiato – the judge’s son, Michael Stuhlbarg as Jimmy Baxter – the mob boss, Chet Hanks, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Margo Martindale, Lorraine Toussaint, and Maura Tierney
The Spanish remake is currently at the script stage with casting commencing soon. The number of episodes is yet to be announced with production scheduled to start later in the year. The release date is also unknown.
