Two upcoming Avengers movies, Doomsday and Secret Wars, are getting a lot of hype lately, and for good reason. These aren’t just your usual superhero team-ups. The threat this time isn’t just another villain, it’s the total collapse of reality.

In the MCU, the concept of “Incursions” has already been introduced. If you’ve seen Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, you’ve heard the term. Incursions are when two universes start crashing into each other, and only one can survive.

In the comics, this idea leads straight into Secret Wars, a massive crossover where everything falls apart and gets rebuilt. Marvel Studios might use that storyline to do a soft reboot of the MCU, basically, keep the stuff that’s working, recast or remove what isn’t.

Kevin Feige recently confirmed some kind of reboot is coming. He even said the X-Men are finally making their way into the MCU, and some big characters will be recast along the way. That means we’re heading toward some serious changes. But who, among the current MCU characters, has the power to break or fix all of reality?

Let’s start with the newest one: Franklin Richards.

Franklin was just introduced in Fantastic Four and is the son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm. Throughout the movie, Reed is stressed out, worried that something is off with his unborn child because both he and Sue have altered DNA from cosmic exposure. Franklin ends up being born in zero gravity, and at first, everything seems normal. But then Galactus shows up.

Galactus tells Reed and Sue that Franklin has “infinite potential.” That’s not just a throwaway line. In the comics, Franklin Richards is one of the most powerful characters of all time. He can warp reality, create universes, and reshape existence itself. In the movie, his powers are finally revealed when he brings Sue back to life after she sacrifices herself to save him and the Earth. That’s a huge moment.

Franklin has often played a godlike role in the comics. In Secret Wars (2015), he literally helps rebuild the multiverse alongside Molecule Man and his dad. So using him as a key figure in Doomsday and Secret Wars makes a lot of sense.

The entire Fantastic Four cast is confirmed for both films, and Franklin’s story might be the biggest piece of it all.

Then there’s Loki.

Loki has been around since the beginning of the MCU, but he changed in a big way during Loki Season 2. By the end of the show, Loki gives up everything to become the “God of Stories,” taking over the role of keeping all the timelines alive and connected. He basically becomes a living part of the multiverse, holding together all of reality after the Temporal Loom starts to fall apart.

Loki’s new powers give him control over time, space, and stories themselves. In the comics, the “God of Stories” version of Loki is a huge deal. He can shape how events unfold across universes.

We know Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, but we don’t know how big his role will be. In the comics, Loki has been both a savior and a destroyer, so his involvement could go either way.

Next is Sentry.

Sentry, aka Bob Reynolds, was introduced in Thunderbolts* as a quiet, broken guy who’s been experimented on. But after taking the Golden Sentry Serum, he becomes one of the most powerful beings in the MCU. His powers are often described as having “the power of a million exploding suns.” In the film, we see him tear through enemies with ease, and there’s even a scene showing The Void, a dark manifestation of his own powers.

In the comics, Sentry is known for his unstable mind. While he can do incredible things like flying at light speed, regenerating from almost anything, and even manipulating matter and reality, he’s always at war with The Void—his evil, destructive alter ego. In Siege and Dark Avengers, Sentry is both a hero and a danger to everyone around him. So the question is, will he save the world or be the reason it ends?

Director Jake Schreier already confirmed that Sentry will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, and that he’s the direct link between Thunderbolts* and the upcoming Avengers event. So expect big things from him, either as a savior or a serious threat.

And finally, Scarlet Witch.

Right now, we don’t even know if Wanda Maximoff is alive. Last time we saw her, she brought down the temple at Mount Wundagore and destroyed all versions of the Darkhold. But nobody saw a body, and that usually means one thing in comic book stories, she’s coming back.

Scarlet Witch has been one of the most powerful characters in Marvel since Avengers: Age of Ultron, and WandaVision just took that to a whole new level. Wanda was something called a “Nexus Being,” someone who can affect reality and the multiverse in huge ways. In the House of M storyline, she literally reshapes the world with three words: “No more mutants.” Later, she helps bring them back.

With the X-Men entering the MCU, this comic arc suddenly feels very relevant. There are rumors that Wanda’s return will involve Doctor Doom and that her sons, Billy and Tommy, will play a role. If she does come back, there’s no telling whether she’ll be part of saving the multiverse or breaking it again.

At this point, these four characters, Franklin Richards, Loki, Sentry, and Scarlet Witch, might be the most powerful players on the board. Each one has the ability to tear reality apart or put it back together. Whether they work together, clash, or fall apart under the weight of their powers… we’ll have to wait and see.

One thing is certain: when Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars hit theaters, reality as we know it in the MCU is going to change, possibly forever.
