ABC’s ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ aired its latest chapter on Thursday, November 5, and the hour put Dixie at the center of the Pharaoh’s newest plague. The installment, titled ‘In Cold Blood,’ sent her onto a flight that the Pharaoh had targeted.

This ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ recap covers the snakes in the air, the reveal about Rogue’s past and the performance that closes the hour. Along the way, a new dispatch manager arrives to lead Cammie and her team, which adds a fresh source of friction at the call center.

The ‘In Cold Blood’ Recap and Dixie’s Flight of Snakes

Dixie begins the episode upset about a trip to Milwaukee, since Blythe owns her contract and decides where she tours. A timed device releases snakes soon after takeoff, and passengers are bitten, including a young boy named Danny who sits next to Dixie.

Cammie happens to take Dixie’s call and talks her through reaching the front of the plane to grab an epi pen from the medical kit. Dixie then returns to the back, where she has barricaded herself and Danny, and uses a fire extinguisher to hold the snakes off since the cold sends them into brumation.

The nose gear refuses to come down because of the snakes, which forces a rough landing. Dixie sings “Amazing Grace” as passengers pray and pass messages for loved ones to dispatchers, while the 113 waits on the runway with antivenom. The setup is an obvious nod to the film ‘Snakes on a Plane.’

Rogue’s Tragic Past and the Pharaoh Case

Rogue snaps at Ryan early on after a nightmare, and he dismisses Ryan’s theory that the Pharaoh is using a smuggler to bring illegal material into the country. The numeric clue left behind by the killer turns out to point to Dixie’s flight from Nashville to Milwaukee.

The episode also reveals that the Staten Island Strangler killed Rogue’s wife, and that his obsession with the case ended their marriage. The Strangler called Rogue from her phone so he could hear her die, a detail he kept out of the podcast, which means Don and Ryan learn of it when he apologizes to Ryan.

Rogue does not wait for the plane to be cleared before entering the cargo hold, where he finds the device, a Bible page and a snake ready to strike, which he shoots. He had also ignored federal agents who told him not to check the plane. He later admits that Ryan was right about the smuggler and asks for his help, noting that Ryan has strong instincts.

Dixie’s Ryman Ending Explained

The hour ends with Dixie living out a dream and singing on the Ryman stage, thanks to Danny’s father, who is also a singer and wants to repay her for saving his son. She performs “Hey, Lady B,” reveals the song is about Blythe and does so despite threats of a lawsuit. Blythe, watching, responds with a nod of approval rather than anger.

According to an interview with TV Insider, LeAnn Rimes sees the moment as pure Dixie, a survivor who spots an opportunity and turns it into something valuable. She asked, “what better place to let it rip than the Ryman stage?”

Rimes also said the “Amazing Grace” scene was originally written as a prayer, and that showrunner Rashad Raisani later asked if she would sing it. She added that the relationship between Dixie and Blythe has more twists coming this season, even if Blythe’s approval may have opened a new door.

Whether Danny’s father can actually free Dixie from her contract remains an open question.

A New Dispatch Manager Tests Cammie’s Team

Camryn Manheim makes her debut as Dr. Marcia Zellner, and at first it seems the dispatchers are going to like her. Once the crisis is over, she tells them not to be so invested, arguing that it can cloud their judgment and cause physical ailments.

Zellner is there to evaluate their mental fitness, and if she decides they cannot handle the job, their time on the team is over. Cammie is worried about the new supervisor and refuses to accept being told not to pray with the passengers of the flight that almost went down.

That tension sits alongside the unanswered questions around Agent Sam Duncan, who signed off on the snake crate. He ended up in a coma after a snake bite that occurred hours before the first distress call, which leaves the Pharaoh case with open questions about how deep the plot runs. Does Blythe’s approving reaction to Dixie’s Ryman moment point toward a truce between the two women, or is it only the quiet before the retaliation Dixie expects, and do you think Duncan will wake up with answers about the Pharaoh?
