What is Invisible City about?

Invisible City is a Brazilian supernatural drama series that premiered on Netflix in 2021. The first season consists of 7 episodes. The series follows the story of Eric (Marco Pigossi), a Brazilian environmental police officer who is investigating the death of his wife, Gabriela (Julia Konrad). Gabriela was killed by an animal that is believed to be extinct in the forests of Rio de Janeiro. As Eric digs deeper into Gabriela’s death, he discovers a hidden world of mystical creatures from Brazilian folklore, including the Curupira, the Saci, and the Iara.

Eric also meets a group of individuals who are fighting to protect these creatures from being exploited by humans, including Ines (Alessandra Negrini), a powerful shaman who becomes Eric’s guide in this world, and Camila (Jessica Córes), a young journalist who is investigating the same case as Eric.

Throughout the season, Eric struggles to come to terms with his wife’s death and the secrets she kept from him. He also learns about the intricate balance between humans and the supernatural creatures that live among them. As Eric and his new allies try to uncover the truth about Gabriela’s death, they find themselves caught in a dangerous web of greed, corruption, and dark magic.

Without giving too much away, the first season of Invisible City is a thrilling and visually stunning ride through Brazilian folklore and mythology.

The show explores themes of loss, grief, environmentalism, and the consequences of human actions on the natural world. With a strong cast and a unique storyline, Invisible City is a must-watch for fans of supernatural dramas and international shows, and we know that international shows are something that Netflix excels at.

But back to the topic at hand, after release, Invisible City received more or less positive reviews, and month after debut, the series renewed for a second season.
