‘The Boys’: Who Is Firecracker & How Strong Is She Compared To Other Characters?
‘The Boys’ trailer for season 4 dropped, and we’ve seen that Homelander is on the verge of tearing down democracy and creating a society where Supes reign supreme, something we’ve all seen during the final episodes of the ‘Gen V’ spinoff. The upcoming fourth season will also feature some new characters created purely for the show, and Firecracker, played by Valorie Curry, will be one of them. Due to the first look at Firecracker in the trailer, we decided to analyze what exactly we know about her and how strong she could be when compared to other characters.
Firecracker is an original character, and there is little we know about her
The characters featured in ‘The Boys’ shows are truly outrageous and have some of the most ridiculous powers we’ve seen on screen, featured in some of the most shocking scenes you can imagine. But, most of the main cast is not an original creation of the showrunners since ‘The Boys’ is based on a series of successful comics that were supposed to ironize some of the most popular superheroes around like Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, I mean you know the group that I’m referring to.
But some of the characters featured in the show are unique creations like Sister Sage, about to be featured in season 4, and Firecracker.
Firecracker was first introduced via Instagram post sporting a red and blue suit and Glock-17. She was described as having a short fuse, and Kripke described her (and the rest of the original gang) as some of the craziest and best-written we’ve ever seen. We hope that he is right, but this still doesn’t answer our question. So what could Firecracker’s powers be about?
Firecracker most likely has power associated with explosions and/or weapons
Now, explosive powers are nothing new. In season 1 we’ve been introduced to Naquib the so-called “Super terrorist” that Vought tried to spin as an excuse for getting a military contract and pushing supes into the army. Naquib had the power to emit extremely potent explosions with his body. Naquib has been taken down by Black Noir, which is evidently proof enough that a short fuse doesn’t do all that much against stealth.
Then there’s Gunpowder, who played a bigger role in season 3 as a member of the Payback team. Gunpowder had extraordinary marksmanship skills with firearms, surpassing the usual mastery that non-superpowered humans can have. I mean, the guy had some crazy shots, but he was ultimately taken down by Butcher’s heat vision, meaning that short fuse once again doesn’t translate well against heat vision.
Firecracker can also be compared to TNT Twins, also members of The Payback, who had the power to generate explosions or rather lighting or some kind of plasma every time they made physical contact with eacother. They were taken down by Soldier Boy.
Firecracker will most likely have powers similar to these; Sister Sage’s powers will be divine in nature, while Firecracker will have something more concrete to bring to the fight; at least, this is my theory.
So how strong could Firecracker be when compared to other The Boys characters?
Firecracker will most likely, due to the nature of her powers and the fact that she is a Supe, have enhanced physical strength and enhanced durability, but is that enough to pit her against Homelander? Victoria Neuman? Starlight? Billy Butcher enhanced by Temp V? We’re not so sure, but explosions don’t usually warrant longevity when it comes to the world of ‘The Boys.’ I have no doubt that showrunners will put a unique spin on her powers, but she will most likely never come close to the power and durability levels of deceased Stormfront, Homelander, or Queen Maeve.
She will most likely be on the level of Naqib, TNT twins and Gunpowder, I mean if she is so powerful why does she needs a weapon?
In any case, this is all pure speculation because, once again, she is an original character, and there’s nothing that we can refer to.
