Last year’s bizarre Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey slasher horror turned out to be a complete fiasco, but from a mere $100,000-budged, this morbid celebration of Milne’s Pooh entering the public domain earned the studio a $5.2 million, which is why they immediately announced a sequel, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, which is going to appear in theaters later this month; the premiere is scheduled for March 26, 2024.

The story of the original movie is a morbid take on the story, as Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet become slasher horror characters who keep murdering everyone and anyone who comes across their path. Critics have panned the movie as one of the worst ones ever made, and it “won” five Golden Raspberry Awards, including one for Worst Picture. But, with so much money, it doesn’t surprise us that the producers actually wanted more, and the sequel is seemingly just the beginning of it all.

Namely, Jagged Edge, the producers behind this macabre version of the story, have announced that they are planning an MCU-style assembly of horror versions of popular children’s characters, which is tentatively titled Poohniverse and is scheduled for a 2025 release. And while it does make sense that the company is feeding off the profits of the first movie, this doesn’t seem to be a long-term solution.

Movies that are currently in the development stages include  Bambi: The Reckoning, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, and Pinocchio Unstrung, but other characters, like Carroll’s Mad Hatter, might also appear in one way or another. These characters are supposedly going to debut in solo movies first, after which they will unite against the survivors in the Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble movie in 2025. The title of the shared universe is supposedly going to be Twisted Childhood Universe.

We don’t know how all of this will play out in the end, but it seems that Jagged Edge is definitely in for a busy couple of years, with a lot of movies that need to be produced. Whether or not they will have the same amount of success is to be seen.
