Kit Harington Discusses His Future in the MCU: “I Don’t Think It’s Planned at the Moment”
Kit Harington became part of the MCU as Dane Whitman/Black Knight in ‘Eternals’ in 2021. Despite the mixed reviews of the movie, fans embraced Harington’s character and are eager to see more of him in future projects.
Whitman and Sersi had a relationship before the Deviants attacked. However, it ended when Whitman learned that she was actually an Eternal. By the end of the movie, Whitman began his own journey when he accepted and started using the Ebony Blade.
It’s natural to expect Whitman to return alongside the other Eternals. However, rumors have circulated in recent weeks that the planned ‘Eternals’ sequel was canceled and possibly being reworked into something else entirely.
Harington’s Whitman has been linked to the upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot. One reported plot point suggests that the Ebony Blade will play a major role in the movie, with the title itself referencing both the blade and the notable vampire hunter.
In a recent interview with Screenrant, Harington addressed these rumors. He debunked most of them and shared insights into his future in the MCU, which, unfortunately, doesn’t look promising.
I don’t know, though. The honest answer is nothing’s in the works at the moment. If they decide to use the character in something, or as a solo thing, I’d be very excited by it. But I don’t think it’s planned at the moment.
During the same interview, Harington disclosed that his ‘Game of Thrones’ spinoff, ‘Snow,’ was also canceled, so things aren’t going as well.
Currently, it’s off the table, because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.
