Sam Mendes is undoubtedly one of the best filmmakers of our times. Among his many hit films are American Beauty (1999), which earned him the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Director, then Road to Perdition (2002), Jarhead (2005), Revolutionary Road (2008), the James Bond films Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015), and the critically acclaimed war film 1917 (2019). He also made Empire of Light in 2022 but has not been active since. Yet, earlier this year, it was reported that Mendes was working on an ambitious four-film project related to arguably the best band ever – The Beatles!

Mandes is working on four individual biopics, each dedicated to one member of the famous group – John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. All four movies are currently planned for a 2027 release, which demonstrates just how big this project is. But this is old news. What we have for you here is some important casting information, as rumors suggest that Mendes has found his four Beatles!

If this gets executed in the manner promised to us, this four-movie project has the potential to become one of the most important film series of all time. Mendes is definitely a director who can do it, and his specific approach to filmmaking will give these movies a level of quality that already seems admirable. We also know that he is a very meticulous and dedicated director, so there is no doubt that the movies will be perfect before he decides to reveal them to the public. If all of this adds up and the concept as a whole turns out to be as great as it sounds, we might just have some of the best biopics in history. But more on that in a later article.

The project will have the full cooperation of both McCartney and Starr, as well as the families of John Lennon and George Harrison, being the first Beatles biopics to get support from all of the sides involved, and that says a lot.

When the news broke first, the actors portraying the four Beatles were unknown, but we can happily announce that there are strong rumors, which seem to be true (based on how many outlets have reported on them), that Mendes has found his four stars! Don’t get too excited just yet, until we get an official confirmation, but from the current perspective, this seems to be a done deal, so you can be a bit excited after all! (Btw, the source of this news is The InSneider, a trusted and reliable entertainment insider, so we can trust the source). So, who are they?

The biggest name on this list is current A-lister Paul Mescal, who is set to portray Paul McCartney, according to the news; rumors of Mescal playing McCartney first appeared in May, which adds extra credibility to this report. Another major name is Oscar-nominee Barry Keoghan, who is set to portray Ringo Starr according to the same source.

Harris Dickinson, best known for Beach Rats (2017), Trust (2018), Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019), The King’s Man (2021), Triangle of Sadness (2022), Where the Crawdads Sing (2022), and The Iron Claw (2023), is supposedly set to play John Lennon, while the role of George Harrison should be played by Charlie Rowe, who is best known for portraying Billy Costa in The Golden Compass.

All these names seem great and we are quite excited about this project, which is why we are going to bring you all the news and updates as soon as they are out, so be sure to keep following us!
