Leaked D23 ‘Ironheart’ Trailer Reveals Riri Williams Creating “Something Undeniable”
In July 2018, a film based on the Marvel Comics character Riri Williams/Ironheart had a script written by Jada Rodriguez and was included on The Black List, but the project never came to fruition. In December 2020, Marvel Studios announced the development of a Disney+ series titled Ironheart. Now, three years after her initial appearance, Riri’s show is set to premiere in 2025.
At this year’s Marvel Studios D23 event, the first trailer for Ironheart was revealed to the audience. Luckily, it has been leaked online for you to watch below.
If the video is taken down before you get a chance to watch it, here’s a description of the footage:
The trailer begins with a scene from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where Dominique Thorne debuts as Riri Williams, aka Ironheart. The focus then shifts to Riri’s life after an internship abroad, where she feels “stuck.” Before her expulsion from MIT, Riri expressed her desire to build something undeniable. She then meets Parker Robbins, aka The Hood (played by Anthony Ramos), who suggests that achieving greatness often requires morally questionable decisions, asking if she’s “in or out.”
The trailer features Riri in action, flying in her Ironheart suit, with scenes of money falling from the sky and glimpses of the risks she takes to pursue her dreams. It concludes with a dramatic moment where she crashes into a truck, sending it flying, followed by a quick look at another white version of her suit, hinting at more to come.
Dominique Thorne leads the cast as Riri Williams/Ironheart, an MIT student and brilliant inventor who creates a suit to rival Iron Man’s. Anthony Ramos co-stars as Parker Robbins/The Hood, a complex character who taps into dark arts and magic. The cast also features Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy, Lyric Ross as Riri’s best friend Natalie, and Anji White as her mother. Other notable actors, including Shea Couleé, Jim Rash (reprising his role as the Dean of MIT), and Sacha Baron Cohen, are cast in undisclosed roles.
Ironheart is slated to premiere on Disney+ in 2025 as part of Phase Five of the MCU, with a six-episode run. Have thoughts to share? Drop them in the comments below!
