With just over a month until the release of ‘Venom: The Last Dance,’ the final chapter in the ‘Venom’ franchise has already hinted at many surprises across several trailers. The latest trailer, released today, revealed the King in Black himself — Knull.

Under normal circumstances, this would be thrilling news. However, given Sony’s recent track record with Marvel properties, there’s a lot of reason for concern.

Initial reactions to Knull have been mixed, with fans worried that Sony might mishandle the character. The premise of ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ is straightforward: Earth faces an onslaught of Symbiotes fleeing from their creator, Knull, the god of Symbiotes.

Eddie and Venom will have to face off against this formidable threat one last time. However, Knull, a major villain in Marvel Comics, isn’t someone who can be easily defeated in a single film. His immense power allows him to challenge some of the universe’s most terrifying entities, making it hard to believe that a single or even a group of Symbiotes could stand against him.

There hasn’t been a sufficient buildup for Knull in the Venom franchise; while the hive was mentioned, Knull himself wasn’t referenced. This lack of context might make it difficult for fans unfamiliar with the comics to grasp the magnitude of his threat. Knull deserves a solo film to properly develop his character and build up to a showdown with Venom. Many fans would prefer to see him in the MCU, where he could be part of an Avengers-level saga, given that no current character in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe seems capable of defeating him.

There’s still hope, though. Rumors suggest Knull might appear in future projects, so there’s a chance the character won’t be entirely mishandled, unlike Gorr in the MCU. This also hints that Eddie might die in the final installment, with Venom potentially crossing over to the MCU.
