Wildfires in Los Angeles have been raging for a week now, and they caused widespread destruction, with at least 25 people confirmed dead. The fires, fueled by severe drought and strong winds, are affecting 45 square miles of densely populated areas.

Thousands of firefighters are working tirelessly to control the flames, but the damage is significant, and many people have been forced to evacuate. The Palisades and Eaton Fires, both starting on January 7, have destroyed thousands of structures and continue to burn, though containment efforts are underway.

Due to all this, it’s not surprising that many people, including celebrities, are talking about it online, and some apparently, are using it to further their own agendas, and some use it to gather political political points.

Danny Trejo is urging celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, to stop using the Los Angeles wildfires to promote their own agendas. He believes that, with the fires causing so much devastation, the focus should be on helping the victims, not pushing personal causes.

“right now as far as inmates getting paid, you know pros, cons, whatever, it’s like right now, Kim, worry about the people that lost everything. You still got everything. Ok? So lets worry about all the people that are walking around with absolutely nothing but the clothes on their back, all right?”

Kim Kardashian spoke out about the low wages that inmate firefighters receive while risking their lives, but Danny Trejo disagreed with her making the situation political. He pointed out that the inmates fighting the fires are receiving other benefits for their service.

“you’re talking to a convict lady. You know what I mean? All the people in jail, they’re fine, all right. They got…I don’t believe it. Everybody needs like a cause. Hey, let’s do…, hey, they committed, god I hate saying this – I was a criminal you know. Guy, I’m sorry but just put out the damn fire and then we’ll figure out what to do. “

Danny Trejo, who was a firefighter while in prison, explained that inmate firefighters volunteer for the job and get time off their sentences for doing it. Kim Kardashian argues that they are “heroes” but only earn $1 an hour, a rate that hasn’t changed since 1984.

She also mentioned that a proposal to raise the pay to $5 an hour was rejected before the recent fires started, and she wants that to change.

Trejo says that inmates care more about reducing their sentences than the money they earn. He also points out that most of their earnings go toward paying restitution, so even if they were paid more, they likely wouldn’t see much of it.
