Ironheart is now out with its first three episodes, and people seem divided on it. The show picks up where Black Panther: Wakanda Forever left off, showing Riri Williams being kicked out of MIT. She had broken school rules to fund her big tech ideas, and now she’s stuck without a clear future.

Not long after that, Riri runs into a mysterious guy named The Hood. He leads a gang that targets corrupt rich people and blackmails them. But it’s not just street crime, The Hood has a magical cloak that lets him disappear and do things that clearly don’t follow the laws of science.

If you’ve read the comics, you’ll know The Hood got his powers by selling his soul. The show hasn’t said that outright, but it’s dropping plenty of hints, and fans are already connecting the dots.

Did You Know One ‘Ironheart’ Character Is Actually Obadiah Stane’s Son?

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dominique Thorne (who plays Riri) and Anthony Ramos (who plays The Hood) were asked about a big cameo coming to the show. While they didn’t say a name, it sounds like they’re talking about someone very powerful, and possibly very evil.

The host hinted that the mystery character is one of the biggest villains in the universe. Both Thorne and Ramos nodded. Then the host asked if this was the last time fans would see him. That’s when Thorne replied: “I don’t think so. I hope not. I hope it’s not the last time that we see him. But I do think it’s the best boost of encouragement that you can get, when I did learn that he would be introduced in Ironheart.”

She also added: “Because of course we know how much the fans, and how long the fans, have been waiting for that. For it to be in this show that they get him, let’s go.”

Ramos followed that by saying: “He’s one of the elite actors of our time too.”

While no names were mentioned, it sounds very likely they’re talking about Mephisto, who’s rumored to be played by Sacha Baron Cohen. This lines up with a report from Deadline back in October 2022, which revealed that Cohen had joined the MCU. At the time, it was believed he’d appear in Ironheart and possibly other Marvel shows or movies as Mephisto.

Of course, fans have been burned before. Back when WandaVision, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Agatha All Along were coming out, people kept thinking Mephisto would show up, and he never did. But this time feels different. The Hood’s powers come straight from Mephisto in the comics, and Ironheart was always rumored to blend magic and tech, especially the darker kind.

Somehow, people seem to have forgotten that Cohen was actually confirmed to be part of the Ironheart cast. Besides him, the show added a bunch of new names between August and October 2022, including Shea Couleé, Zoe Terakes, Regan Aliyah, Shakira Barrera, Rashida “Sheedz” Olayiwola, Sonia Denis, Paul Calderón, and Cree Summer. Jim Rash is also back as the MIT dean from Captain America: Civil War.

If Cohen really is Mephisto, fans hope he’s not just in one or two episodes. There’s talk that the future of the MCU will lean more into the magical and supernatural side, with Mephisto possibly becoming a big piece of that.

Honestly, if they really brought in Mephisto for this show, it’s a bold move. It gives Ironheart a much bigger role in the MCU’s future, and it could help connect magic and science in a way we haven’t seen before. What do you think? Is Mephisto finally here for real? Let us know in the comments.
