David Corenswet, who’s playing Superman in the new DC Universe, recently shared which superhero meant the most to him as a kid, and it wasn’t Superman. During a conversation on CBS Mornings, Corenswet said that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man was his favorite growing up.

He explained how much those movies meant to him when he was younger.

“Those were the movies I saw in theaters and were really relevant to me… you’re a nerd who gets bullied and then you get these amazing powers,” he said.

That story clearly left a mark on him, and it’s something a lot of fans can relate to. The idea of being an awkward teen who suddenly becomes a hero is part of what made Spider-Man so popular in the first place.

Tobey Maguire played Peter Parker in the Spider-Man trilogy directed by Sam Raimi. The first movie came out in 2002, and it changed superhero movies forever. Back then, comic book movies weren’t as common or as big as they are today.

Raimi’s films helped prove that superheroes could be taken seriously and still be fun. The action, the emotion, the characters, everything felt new and exciting.

The trilogy showed Peter Parker’s journey from a shy high school student to a hero who has to make tough choices. Fans loved how real and personal it felt. The line “With great power comes great responsibility” became iconic.

Spider-Man 2 is often called one of the best superhero movies ever made. At the 77th Academy Awards, Spider-Man 2 won the award for Best Visual Effects. It was also nominated for Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing but did not win in those categories.

The movie did very well at the Saturn Awards and received two British Academy Film Award nominations for Special Visual Effects and Sound, but lost to other movies. The American Film Institute named Spider-Man 2 one of the top ten films of 2004.

Tobey Maguire’s legacy as Spider-Man is so strong that once his involvement in No Way Home was announced, it was clear the movie would be both a critical and box office success, and it definitely was.

We hope that Corenswet’s legacy will be of similar impact.

The upcoming Superman movie, directed by James Gunn, stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman. The film shows Superman trying to balance his alien roots with his life on Earth. It features other characters like Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and several other superheroes. The story and characters are inspired by popular comics like All-Star Superman.

The movie stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult plays the villain Lex Luthor. The film also features Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl. Several other actors play important roles, including Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell as Superman’s adoptive parents.
