The wait is over. James Gunn’s Superman has officially landed in theaters around the world. This marks the beginning of the new DC Universe on the big screen, and fans are finally getting to see David Corenswet as the Man of Steel. He’s joined by Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

This isn’t another origin story. Superman is already on the job, and the world around him is chaotic, filled with superheroes, villains, and plenty of action. It’s a fast-paced, magical place where anything can happen, and usually does.

Early social media reactions were very positive, and that same energy has carried over into official reviews.

As of now, Superman holds an 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on more than 1000 reviews. That’s a strong start for a reboot, especially one with so much pressure riding on it.

People really loved the new Superman movie. They said it felt magical, fun, and also serious at times. The movie shows a strong fight between Superman and Lex Luthor, which feels real and important in the context of today. It talks about how powerful people, like billionaires, can get out of control without someone like Superman to stop them.

The story isn’t just another origin story, it’s fresh and different. Superman isn’t too powerful and gets help from his friends, which makes him more relatable. The movie also shows a nice relationship between Superman and Lois.

Fans really liked the cast. Everyone played their roles well, especially Krypto the dog and Mr. Terrific, people said Krypto stole the show!

Visually, the movie is beautiful, especially in IMAX. Some parts were a bit cheesy, but that gave the movie a lighter tone.

Longtime DC fans said the movie felt very true to the comics. Superman comes across as kind, honest, and heroic, like an Eagle Scout with powers.

Overall, fans said it’s a must-see on the big screen and a great addition to the Superman movies.

Loved the movie. Felt magical and little details of including Will Reeves and Justice League. Struggles between Luther & Superman are very real. Funny in parts and serious in others. Seems also relevant to present time. In that we keep going the way we are going then Luthers (billionaires) of the world getting out of control with no checks & balances which Superman brings to the film. We need one in real life. It is glimpse into Superman & Lois relationship and seems they are working on details. It’s a great movie to add to the line up of Superman.

James Gunn understood the assignment and delivered. This is a must see on the big screen. I was lucky enough to see it a few days early. The casting on all aspects was perfect in my opinion. Mr. terrific Krypto stole all their scenes.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and found it very entertaining and visually stunning and beautiful. I watched it on IMAX and it was completely worth it. There were some parts of the movie that I found “cheesy/corny”, but it felt like it changed the tone of the movie.

I have been buying and reading DC comic books since the early 80s, including Superman title comics. This latest Superman movie is very grounded on the comic book source material. It’s basically a live adaptation of the Superman comic books. Corenswet is a very wholesome Clark Kent and believable Superman. Just like the comic books, he is basically an Eagle Scout with superhuman powers. The actors that play Lex Luthor, Lois Lane and Mr. Terrific all do a great job at portraying their respective characters. If you have ever had dogs as a pet, then you will know that Krypto is very believable as a dog – one of my dogs is basically a smaller version of Krypto in behavior and personality. I really enjoyed watching this movie and so did my family and friends that joined me when we got see an advance screening of it thanks to Amazon Prime and Fandango.

I loved the fact Gunn took this monstrous task on and gave us something different than what was expected. I was smiling all movie as a 43 year old that grew up with Chris Reeve. First movie that made me feel like I got my moneys worth. Excited for this new DCU

Some people however didn’t love or hate the movie, but just thought it was okay. They said it’s very different from past Superman movies, especially Man of Steel or Zack Snyder’s style, and that might upset some fans.

Many felt the movie didn’t know what it wanted to be, part comedy, part action, and it didn’t do either very well. Some said it felt like a CW show, with confusing writing and a mix of childish jokes and adult humor.

One review said the script talked too much instead of showing the action, and another complained that the ending copied The Lego Batman Movie.

Even though some actors like Mr. Terrific and Lois Lane were praised, others felt the writing was weak and that past Supermen (like Henry Cavill and Christopher Reeve) were better.

Overall, critics of the movie felt it was uneven, confused in tone, and should be watched later on streaming rather than in theaters.

I did not love or hate this movie but I did like it. I am still processing it at the time of writing this review. It is very different than any other Superman movie or series that I have seen. If you are a Man of Steel and Zach Snyder fan you may not like this movie because it is a complete 180. All and all I believe this will be a very polarizing movie among fans.

Script screamed tell, don’t show rather than show don’t tell, half the time felt like a CW movie and the other half felt like the target audience was completely confused, is this for adults with the sex jokes or kids with the childish dialogue and acting? Also huge point deduction for literally using the climax of the superior Lego Batman Movie

Disappointed. For the most part kinda stupid, but it did have its moments. I think the only ones worse were the Christopher Reeves Superduperman 3 and 4. It seems it really could not figure out what it wanted to be, part action film part comedy. It failed on both parts, but some jokes were pretty good. Wait until Netflix or Prime or something (Max??) Edi Gathegi (Mr. Terrific) as well as Rachel Brosnahan (Lois) were pretty good. Henry Cavell and Christopher Reeves were much better as Superduperman not that David Corenswet was that bad. The writers shouldd be taken to the woodshed for this.
