New ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Teaser Features Johnny Storm Wooing the Silver Surfer
With the release of Superman now behind us, fans are turning their attention to the next big movie of the year: Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps. This film is the 37th in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and marks a fresh start for the Fantastic Four series.
Directed by Matt Shakman, the movie stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn. The story follows the team as they try to protect their retro-futuristic world from a massive space villain named Galactus.
The project began after Disney bought the studio that owned the Fantastic Four rights. Originally, Jon Watts was set to direct, but he stepped down, and Matt Shakman took over. The filmmakers made a choice not to retell the team’s origin story again. Fantastic Four: First Steps is the first film in Marvel’s Phase Six, and a sequel is already being planned.
As marketing gears up, Marvel Studios has released a new teaser focusing on Johnny Storm, also known as the Human Torch. In the teaser, Johnny is seen trying to charm the Silver Surfer, who is played by Julia Garner.

Fans of the comics know that Johnny Storm has a reputation as a bit of a womanizer. He’s often shown flirting with many women, confident and fun-loving, sometimes getting into trouble because of it. But underneath it all, he really cares about his family and friends.
Joseph Quinn, who plays Johnny Storm, shared recently that his version of the character will be a little different from past portrayals. Although he admired Chris Evans’s performance as Johnny Storm in the 2005 and 2007 Fantastic Four movies, Quinn decided not to copy that version. In conversations with producer Kevin Feige, they agreed that Johnny’s old womanizing ways wouldn’t feel “sexy” to today’s audiences.
Quinn said he wants his Johnny to be “less callous with other people’s feelings” and more aware of how his actions affect those around him. At the same time, he still wants to keep Johnny’s bold attitude and humor. Director Matt Shakman added that Johnny is also smart and brave, even if he hides those qualities behind jokes.
The new teaser shows that this version of Human Torch will share some qualities with past versions, but with a fresh twist.
