David Corenswet Thinks You’re Watching Star Wars the Wrong Way, Reveals His Watch Order
David Corenswet might be the new Superman, but when he’s not saving the world, he’s busy having deep Star Wars debates. In a recent episode of Brittany Broski’s Royal Court, Corenswet revealed that he’s a huge Star Wars fan, and apparently has strong opinions about how people should watch the movies. His watch order, quite frankly, makes a lot of sense.
During their chat, Broski shared her own Star Wars take, saying she thought Anakin Skywalker was “valid in everything he did.” She explained she felt this way after rewatching Episodes I and II. Corenswet couldn’t help but jump in with his thoughts.
“To say that Anakin was valid in everything that he did and then to not mention episode three… well, obviously if you don’t watch episode three, there’s a better argument for it all,” he said, laughing.
Broski then asked if he was suggesting a specific order for watching the saga. Corenswet didn’t give a clear yes, but said something that fans might find interesting. “It’s just, not even that. I mean, that’s, honestly, like, was it necessary? Was it part of the order technically?” He left it open-ended but clearly had thoughts about the sequence.
The conversation kept going as Broski argued that Anakin’s relationship with Padmé made sense and even joked that Obi-Wan Kenobi acted like a “boomer” who didn’t get why Anakin was so emotional.
Corenswet had an answer for that too. “Yeah well he wasn’t the one who was supposed to train Anakin. That was supposed to be Qui-Gon. Qui-Gon had the experience and the instinct and the… and frankly, the love, which you know in the Jedi Order is not terribly encouraged. But Qui-Gon went against it, against the order, in feeling this great love for the kid and having this sense. And if it had been Qui-Gon, you know it would probably go better. But that said, Obi-Wan is also justified because he made a promise to his dying master. He has to follow through and he cares about the kid too.”
Broski then asked Corenswet directly what his Star Wars hot take really was. He didn’t hesitate.
“Star Wars hot take? Um Star Wars hot take is you should watch them if you’re going to introduce new people to them, you should watch them four, five, one, two, three, six. So you preserve the twist of, spoiler alert, Darth Vader is his father.”
- 1st: ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’
- 2nd: ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’
- 3rd: ‘Star Wars: The Phantom Menace’
- 4th: ‘Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones’ 5th: ‘Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith’
- 6th: ‘Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi’
For Corenswet, it’s all about keeping the big surprise a surprise. He explained that the prequels should act more like a long flashback that builds up to the finale.
“Then you watch one through three as a flashback, essentially, and then six is a… it’s not as strong as four and five as a film, but it’s a great culmination to a whole thing. It brings it all together. The stakes are bigger if you’ve seen one, two, three – it feels more like a saga.”
In short, Corenswet believes Star Wars should be watched as four, five, then one, two, three, and finally six. This viewing order, in his opinion, keeps the most iconic twist safe and makes the final movie feel like a real ending to a bigger story.
So, if you’re planning a Star Wars marathon, maybe Superman himself just gave you the best roadmap.
