The film is directed by Clark Baker, making his feature film debut. Baker is known for working on comedies like The Eric Andre Show and Nathan For You, so this movie is a big shift in style for him. He worked with Stephen Susco on the script. Susco is known for writing horror films, so his experience likely helped shape this project.

Baker described the movie as “THE THING meets SOCIETY in a ‘Stranger Things’ universe”, giving people an idea of the weird and creepy tone he’s going for.

The movie stars Johnny Berchtold, Rain Spencer, and Sean Bridgers. It premiered in the United Kingdom on August 22, 2024, at FrightFest.

After that, it was screened in the United States at Screamfest on October 9, 2024. A wide theatrical release is planned for sometime in 2025 or 2026, though no exact date has been announced yet.

“Test Screening” is building excitement with its mix of sci-fi and horror, and with Baker moving from comedy into darker territory, fans are curious to see how his first horror film turns out.
