James Norton Spotted Filming a Scene With Matt Smith in ‘House of The Dragon’ Season 3 Leaked Set Video
James Norton has finally been spotted on the set of House of The Dragon Season 3. A leaked video from the filming shows him acting alongside Matt Smith and a child actor, though it’s not clear yet who the child character is.
This is the first time fans have seen Norton filming for the new season, giving them a look at his role in the show.

Filming for Season 3 actually started back on March 21, 2025, at Leavesden Studios in Watford. It’s expected to continue all the way until October, so there’s still a long way to go before the work is done. The leak came from someone close to the production, though no official footage has been released yet.
Back in January 2025, HBO announced that James Norton had joined the cast as Lord Ormund Hightower. Norton’s character is pretty important in the story. Ormund is the Lord of the Hightower and leads his house during the Dance of the Dragons. He’s also the nephew of Ser Otto Hightower, who fans know as the Hand of the King from the earlier seasons. Ormund carries a special Valyrian steel sword named Vigilance, which makes him even more dangerous in battle.
Ormund is a key supporter of King Aegon II Targaryen, helping the “greens” in the war. His army is one of the largest. He leads thousands of knights, archers, and foot soldiers. But not all the lords of the Reach are on his side.
Some, like Ser Alan Beesbury and Lord Alan Tarly, attack Ormund’s forces and cause him trouble. Lord Owen Costayne also attacks his supply lines. Because of these problems, Ormund decides to wait for backup from King’s Landing before making any big moves.
James Norton isn’t the only new face this season. In March 2025, HBO also revealed that Tommy Flanagan and Dan Fogler joined the show as Lord Roderick Dustin and Ser Torrhen Manderly. A month later, in April, Tom Cullen, Joplin Sibtain, and Barry Sloane were confirmed as Ser Luthor Largent, Ser Jon Roxton, and Ser Adrian Redfort.
So far, HBO hasn’t officially shared much footage, but the leaked clip with Norton is already getting fans excited. As one source from the set said, “People are going to love seeing what James brings to the role. He looks right at home in Westeros.”
House of The Dragon Season 3 doesn’t have a release date yet, but with filming still going on, fans will probably have to wait until 2026 to see Norton and the rest of the cast in action.
