Kevin Feige Drops a Bombshell on Miles Morales’ MCU Future
Miles Morales is a fan favorite, especially thanks to the huge success of the animated Spider-Verse movies. The third film in that series is currently in the works, and many fans have been eager to see Miles show up in the live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
At Brazil’s D23 event, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige hinted that Miles might join the MCU soon after his third animated movie is released.
He said, “He’ll be in the third ‘Spider-Verse’, and I’m hoping that shortly after that, we can introduce him to the MCU in a live-action format.”
But, during a recent press event for the release of Fantastic Four: First Steps, Feige made it clear that this isn’t happening anytime soon.
He explained that because Sony Pictures holds the rights to the character, Marvel has been told to stay away from Miles until the animated trilogy wraps up with 2027’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Feige was direct, saying, “That is nowhere.”
“That is nowhere. Until Sony Pictures (which holds the film rights to the character) completes its animated Miles trilogy with 2027’s ‘SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE’ we’ve been told to stay away.”
Tom Holland, who plays the live-action Spider-Man in the MCU, has expressed interest in teaming up with Miles one day.
He even said he’d love to mentor the younger Spider-Man just like Robert Downey Jr. did with him. But for now, it looks like fans will have to wait a while before seeing Miles Morales swinging around in live-action alongside Holland’s Peter Parker.
