Kevin Feige Gives Us Promising Update On ‘Black Panther 3’
Work on Black Panther 3 is officially moving forward, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. While speaking at the press event for Fantastic Four: First Steps, Feige confirmed that Ryan Coogler, who directed the first two Black Panther movies, is now focusing on developing the third film.
Feige didn’t share a release date yet but said the project is in progress. He added with a smile, “We know [when on the timeline it is], and if he’s telling you he doesn’t, that’s perfect.”
Back in November 2022, reports said that Coogler and Feige had already discussed making a third movie. By early 2023, Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri, shared that the idea of another film was being talked about but said the cast and Coogler needed some time to rest after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
In November 2024, Coogler was reportedly in talks with Denzel Washington about a role in the new film. That rumor was confirmed in June 2025 when Coogler himself said Washington had joined the cast. Now Feige confirmed the rest.
In a recent interview with Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, Coogler opened up about working with the legendary actor. He said, “I’m dying to work with Denzel and I’m hoping we can make that happen. I got every intention of working with him in that movie and as long as he’s interested — it’s going to happen.”
Coogler also described Washington as a “living legend and a great mentor” and said “He’s all about looking out for us.”
As for the character of T’Challa, some rumors have been spreading online suggesting Marvel might recast the role after Chadwick Boseman’s death. But Marvel producer Nate Moore recently denied this. Speaking to the press, Moore said Marvel is not looking for a new actor to play T’Challa right now.
He explained that Coogler was focused on Sinners, so future plans for Black Panther have not been decided yet. Moore did admit things could change in the future but said for now, the recasting rumors are just rumors.
So while the next Black Panther movie is definitely in the works, there’s still no official word on when fans can expect to see it hit theaters.
