New ‘Fantastic Four’ Trailer Reveals Best Look So Far at Baby Franklin Richards
Marvel fans just got something they’ve been waiting for. A brand new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has dropped, and it shows the best look yet at baby Franklin Richards.
In the trailer, there’s a moment where Reed Richards and Sue Storm are seen holding their child. Then another scene shows little Franklin sitting on Ben Grimm’s lap. This marks the first proper look at Franklin in the film, after months of hints and teases.

Vanessa Kirby, who plays Sue Storm in the movie, had already given fans a clue earlier. In an interview with Empire Magazine, she said, “It’s not just adults that have superpowers.” This small hint got fans thinking Franklin might appear, and now it’s confirmed, at least as a baby. Whether he’ll actually show powers in the movie is still a mystery, but Kirby’s comment keeps that hope alive.
Franklin Richards is not just any child in Marvel’s world. In the comics, he’s known as one of the most powerful mutants ever. He can change reality itself, create whole universes, and do things like move objects with his mind or read thoughts.
He’s so powerful that he’s seen as being on the same level as giant cosmic beings like Galactus and the Celestials. Comics also show that as Franklin grows up, he becomes even more powerful, eventually showing up as a hero protecting the entire universe.
As for the movie itself, excitement is only growing as its July release date gets closer. Director Matt Shakman recently addressed one of the biggest questions from fans — whether Doctor Doom will appear.
According to Shakman, Doom won’t be part of the main story. But fans are still hopeful he’ll pop up in a surprise scene after the credits. This hope grew after news came out that Joe and Anthony Russo directed the post-credits sequence.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps takes place on Earth-828, a retro-futuristic version of the 1960s. In this alternate world, the Fantastic Four must defend their planet from the powerful Galactus and his cosmic messenger, the Silver Surfer.
