Fandango has just shared a fresh look at Avatar: Fire and Ash, giving fans an exciting sneak peek at the next chapter in James Cameron’s epic sci-fi series. The new image looks like concept art rather than an actual scene from the film or a movie still.

It shows off Pandora’s waters once again, hinting at the kind of stunning locations we might explore when the movie finally arrives.

This epic sci-fi movie is directed, co-produced, and co-edited by Cameron himself, who also helped write the script with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.

The story was created by Cameron along with Jaffa, Silver, Josh Friedman, and Shane Salerno.

Avatar: Fire and Ash continues the story from Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) and brings back many familiar faces. Sam Worthington returns as Jake Sully, the human who became part of the Na’vi world.

Zoe Saldaña is back as Neytiri, his wife. Sigourney Weaver also reprises her role as Kiri, the adopted daughter of Jake and Neytiri. Stephen Lang returns as Colonel Quaritch, who has been brought back in a new form called a recombinant.

The movie also welcomes new actors like David Thewlis and Oona Chaplin. Chaplin plays Varang, the leader of the “Ash People,” a tough clan living near volcanoes. Cameron described her character by saying, “Varang is the leader of a people who have gone through an incredible hardship. She’s hardened by that. She will do anything for them, even things that we would consider to be evil.”

Filming for Fire and Ash began in New Zealand on September 25, 2017, at the same time as The Way of Water. The production was long and complex, taking over three years to finish shooting in late 2020.

One major challenge was developing new technology to capture underwater scenes, something never done before on this scale. This pushed back the release date many times. After several delays, the movie is now set to come out on December 19, 2025.

The story focuses on Jake and Neytiri’s new life with the Metkayina clan, after leaving their original home, the Omatikaya. It dives deep into family ties and the challenges they face. Their children, including Lo’ak who also narrates the film, play big roles.

The film promises to explore new parts of Pandora and introduce fresh characters, like the volcanic Ash People and the return of Payakan, the giant Tulkun who becomes friends with Lo’ak.

This new look for Avatar: Fire and Ash highlights the film’s impressive visual effects and shows how the story will expand the world fans have come to love. The fresh images reveal more of the stunning landscapes and the detailed characters, building excitement for what’s next on Pandora.
