Warner Bros. Animation, along with Ánima and Chatrone, is bringing a fresh and bold take on Batman with their new animated movie, Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires.

This film reimagines the famous superhero story through the vibrant culture and history of 16th century Mesoamerica. The movie will be available to watch digitally in the US starting September 19, with physical copies on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD arriving on September 23, according to official sources.

The story centers around Yohualli Coatl, a young Aztec boy whose life changes forever when Spanish conquistadors kill his father. To save his people and warn King Moctezuma and his high priest Yoka about the coming danger, Yohualli escapes to the great city of Tenochtitlán.

There, he trains under the bat god Tzinacan, learning to create weapons and gear to fight the invasion and get justice for his father. Along his journey, Yohualli meets powerful characters like the fierce Jaguar Woman and the mysterious Forest Ivy.

The movie’s Spanish version features well-known Mexican actors such as Horacio García Rojas, Omar Chaparro, and Álvaro Morte. The English cast includes Jay Hernandez, famous for Magnum P.I. and Suicide Squad, and Raymond Cruz from Sons of Anarchy and Better Call Saul. Juan Meza-Léon directs the film, with a script by Ernie Altbacker, based on the original Batman created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger.

Producers José C. García de Letona, Fernando De Fuentes S., Carina Schulze, Aaron D. Berger, Jim Krieg, and Kimberly S. Moreau helped bring the project to life, with executive producers Sam Register, Tomás Yankelevich, and Michael Uslan guiding the production.

Fans can stream Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires starting September 19 on popular digital platforms like Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, and Fandango at Home.

A few days later, on September 23, the movie will be available for purchase on physical formats both online and in stores. Both Spanish and English audio options will be offered.

This new Batman story is exciting because it dives deep into Aztec culture and history, mixing superhero action with real historical drama. The film’s trailer has already caught attention for its unique setting and style, making it a must-watch for Batman fans and those interested in Mesoamerican history.
