The World of ‘Rick and Morty’ is Growing Again as New Spinoff is Announced at Comic-Con
The world of Rick and Morty is growing again, and this time it’s bringing President Andre Curtis into the spotlight. Adult Swim just announced a brand-new animated comedy called President Curtis during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025.
Actor Keith David, who voices the president in Rick and Morty, even showed up at the event to surprise fans.
This new spinoff is being created by Rick and Morty executive producers Dan Harmon and James Siciliano. Keith David is coming back as President Curtis, and he’ll be joined by Stephanie Beatriz from Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Jim Rash from Community. Both Rash and David also starred in Community, which keeps everything connected under Harmon’s creative umbrella.
Keith David said he’s excited to bring more attention to the character. In a statement, he shared, “President Curtis has always been a blast to play. Getting to explore his world more deeply in this new series is a dream. I can’t wait for fans to see what kind of chaos he stirs up when Rick isn’t around to steal the spotlight.”
According to Adult Swim, the show will follow the president and his unusual staff as they deal with the kinds of wild problems Rick would never care about, things like interdimensional politics, paranormal mysteries, and other weird phenomena.
This isn’t the first time Rick and Morty has expanded. Other spinoffs like Vindicators 2 and Rick and Morty: The Anime have also explored new parts of this strange universe. But President Curtis seems like a full-on deep dive into a character that fans already love.
Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim, said this show would’ve been made even without the Rick and Morty connection. “President Andre Curtis is just that good of a character,” he explained. “The rest of the world the team has fleshed out is super fun and totally stands on its own. We can’t wait for you to see it.”
Harmon and Siciliano are clearly excited too. In a joint statement, they said, “President Curtis has always been one of our favorite characters to write — he’s the only person in the multiverse who can go toe-to-toe with Rick and still hold office. Now we finally get to go on sci-fi missions from Curtis’ point of view. And with Keith David leading the charge, it’s going to be a wild ride.”
Keith David has been busy lately in both voice work and live action. He’s been involved in shows like Hazbin Hotel, Family Guy, Masters of the Universe: Revolution, and the upcoming King of the Hill revival. He’s also appeared in series like Abbott Elementary and FX’s The Lowdown.
No word yet on exactly when President Curtis will premiere, but with the team behind it, fans are in for something fun and chaotic.
