The first trailer for GOAT, the new animated sports comedy from Sony Pictures Animation and Columbia Pictures, is finally here, and it’s all about going big, even when you’re small.

NBA legend Stephen Curry helped launch the trailer this week, where he introduces the movie and its unlikely hero: a little goat named Will Harris. Will’s voice is played by Caleb McLaughlin from Stranger Things, and his big dream is to make it in the world of roarball — a wild, high-speed, full-contact sport played by some of the toughest animals around.

Curry doesn’t actually voice the goat though. He plays Lenny, a tall giraffe athlete. Still, he sets the tone with the film’s main message: “You’re never too small to dream big.”

Set in a world full of animals, GOAT follows Will as he gets a shot at joining a pro roarball team. But his new teammates aren’t exactly happy to have a goat on their roster. They doubt he can keep up, let alone make an impact. According to the movie’s official description from Sony Pictures Animation, “Will is determined to revolutionize the sport and prove once and for all that ‘smalls can ball!’”

The trailer shows Will hustling, training, and going up against some seriously intense competition, all set to the 90s anthem “I Wish” by Skee-Lo. It gives the teaser a fun, upbeat vibe as the underdog story unfolds.

The film is directed by Tyree Dillihay, with Adam Rosette as co-director. It’s Dillihay’s first feature film. The script is written by Aaron Buchsbaum and Teddy Riley. Curry, who’s also producing, is joined by Erick Peyton for Unanimous Media and producers from Modern Magic including Michelle Raimo Kouyate, Adam Rosenberg, and Rodney Rothman.

The voice cast is packed. Gabrielle Union plays Jett Fillmore, a fierce black leopard and team star. Nick Kroll is Modo, a fire-breathing komodo dragon. Nicola Coughlan plays an ostrich named Olivia Burke, while David Harbour voices a huge rhino player. Jenifer Lewis is Florence Everson, the team’s owner, and Patton Oswalt voices the team’s coach, Dennis. Other cast members include Jennifer Hudson, Aaron Pierre, Jelly Roll, Ayesha Curry, Eduardo Franco, Bobby Lee, Andrew Santino, and Sherry Cola, though their roles haven’t been revealed yet.

Sony announced the movie in 2024, and most of the cast was confirmed during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2025.

GOAT is scheduled to hit theaters on February 13, 2026, just in time for NBA All-Star Weekend, which will be held in Los Angeles. After its run in theaters, the film will head to Netflix first as part of Sony’s streaming deal. Later, it will also be available on Disney+ and Hulu.

So, whether you’re into sports, animation, or just rooting for the little guy (or goat), this one looks like a fun ride with a lot of heart, and a few slam dunks too.
