Netflix has shared a fresh look at The Woman in Cabin 10, the upcoming British psychological thriller that lands on the platform on October 10, 2025. The movie is based on the bestselling 2016 novel by Ruth Ware and has been adapted for the screen by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse. It’s directed by Simon Stone.

The story follows Laura “Lo” Blacklock, played by Keira Knightley, a journalist covering the maiden voyage of a luxury cruise. During her trip, she believes she sees a passenger being thrown overboard late at night. But when she raises the alarm, she’s told everyone on the ship is accounted for.

The cast is packed with familiar names including Guy Pearce, David Ajala, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kaya Scodelario, David Morrissey, and Hannah Waddingham. They are joined by Art Malik, Daniel Ings, Gitte Witt, Christopher Rygh, Pippa Bennett-Warner, John Macmillan, Paul Kaye, Amanda Collin, Lisa Loven Kongsli, and Ayọ̀ Owóyẹmi-Peters.

This project has been in the works for a while. Back in 2017, CBS bought the film rights and planned to make it with Hillary Seitz writing the script. Netflix later took over the rights in May 2024 and announced Simon Stone as director with Knightley in the lead role. By September 2024, the cast had grown with the likes of Pearce, Waddingham, Scodelario, and Mbatha-Raw joining in.

Filming took place in September 2024 on the Isle of Portland in Dorset, England, with scenes also shot aboard the luxury superyacht Savannah.

Netflix describes the film as a tense thriller set on open water where “one shocking moment can change everything, even if no one else believes you.”

With its gripping mystery and a strong ensemble cast, The Woman in Cabin 10 is shaping up to be one of the must-watch thrillers of the year.
