Star Wars Legend Confirms His Return in ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2!
After the success of the first season of Ahsoka, it didn’t take long for the studio to announce that the show would return for a second season. In January 2024, it was confirmed that Dave Filoni was working on season two of the series, continuing the story set in the Star Wars universe.
The show is part of the larger Star Wars timeline, taking place around the same time as The Mandalorian and after the events of Return of the Jedi. The story follows Ahsoka Tano and her Jedi apprentice Sabine Wren, who find themselves stuck in a different galaxy. Meanwhile, Grand Admiral Thrawn is leading the leftover forces of the Galactic Empire against the New Republic.
The new season is produced by Lucasfilm and Golem Creations, with Dave Filoni returning as the showrunner. Rosario Dawson stars again as Ahsoka, reprising her role from The Mandalorian.
The cast also includes Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Ivanna Sakhno, Eman Esfandi, Hayden Christensen, and Rory McCann. After the passing of Ray Stevenson in May 2023, Rory McCann has taken over the role of Baylan Skoll. Filming started in the UK in April 2025, and the season is expected to have eight episodes available on Disney+.
One of the most exciting announcements came from Fan Expo in Boston, where Ewan McGregor confirmed he would return as Obi-Wan Kenobi for the second season. This surprised many fans and added even more buzz around the new episodes.

Hayden Christensen, who plays Anakin Skywalker, also hinted at his return, saying, “One hundred percent… I would love to, yes. If the powers that be decide that’s something that they want to see, I would be there in a heartbeat.”
However, this wasn’t really new information. Reliable sources had already confirmed Hayden’s return, but it was interesting to hear him speak about it personally. Reports suggest that Christensen will have a much bigger role in this season compared to before.

Fans have mixed feelings about Anakin’s return because the character is already dead in the Star Wars timeline. Many are curious how the story will explain his comeback and what it might mean for Ahsoka’s journey.
Ahsoka’s growth in the first season was heavily influenced by losing her former mentor, and some worry that bringing Anakin back might undo the progress she made.
There’s also a popular theory about Anakin coming back as one of the Mortis gods, powerful Force beings first introduced in The Clone Wars. At the end of season one, Ahsoka and Sabine were trapped in a new galaxy, while Thrawn and Ezra Bridger returned to the original Star Wars galaxy.
Baylan Skoll was shown discovering huge statues of the Mortis gods. The final scene of the season featured Anakin appearing as a Force ghost, watching over Ahsoka and Sabine. This powerful moment highlighted the connection between three generations of Jedi: Anakin, Ahsoka, and Sabine.
The second season looks set to explore these new ideas and mysteries, while bringing back beloved characters and introducing new challenges. Fans are eager to see how the story unfolds, especially with the return of Obi-Wan and the deeper involvement of Anakin.
