The bloody and bizarre “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey” saga isn’t slowing down. A third film in the low-budget slasher series is officially on the way, and this time it’s bringing in horror veteran Richard Stanley to write the script.

Stanley, best known for “Color Out of Space” and “The Island of Dr. Moreau,” will be working with returning producers ITN Studios and Premiere Entertainment, with filming set to begin in early 2026.

Scott Chambers and Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the duo behind the first two films, are both back for round three. Chambers will be directing this time, while Frake-Waterfield is focusing on producing.

Speaking to Variety, Stanley shared his excitement about joining the twisted series, saying, “I am wildly excited to be joining Scott Chambers and his creative team as screenwriter on the mind-wrenching third installment of a beloved, blood-soaked saga that has revitalized independent genre film production in the U.K. The Hundred Acre Wood will never be the same again!”

Chambers is equally eager to see what Stanley brings to the franchise, he said: “I’ve always been a huge fan of ‘Color Out of Space’ and all of Richard’s work. Now, with the third installment underway, I can’t wait to see his wild new vision come to life. Work has already begun — and it promises to take everything to an entirely new level.”

Te creative team teased that the third entry will have a bigger budget than its predecessors. It’s also expected to introduce more characters from the original Winnie-the-Pooh stories, including Rabbit, the heffalumps, and the woozles, which means even more nightmare fuel for horror fans.

The series has built a reputation for being so bad it’s good, and surprisingly profitable. “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2” pulled in over $7.6 million worldwide, with $533,144 of that coming from the U.S. and Canada.

The sequel even managed to get slightly better reviews than the first film. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 46% critic score based on 41 reviews, with an average rating of 4.6 out of 10.

The site’s consensus reads, “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 represents an improvement over the original in most respects, although the Poohniverse remains a place made for hardcore slasher fans.” Metacritic was far less forgiving, giving the film a 27 out of 100 from nine critics, labeling it “generally unfavorable.”

Love it or hate it, the “Blood and Honey” franchise has carved out a strange corner of horror cinema. With Stanley now onboard and new characters on the way, the next trip to the Hundred Acre Wood promises to be bloodier, weirder, and possibly even more outrageous than before.
