Gal Gadot Finally Breaks Silence on Snow White’s ‘Disastrous’ Box Office – Says Pressure To Speak Against Israel Is To Blame
Gal Gadot has finally spoken out about the disappointing box office performance of Disney’s live-action Snow White, and she says the controversy around Israel and Palestine played a big role in it.
In a recent interview with a group of amateur journalists, Gadot was asked directly about the film, which the interviewers described as a “huge flop.” The actress didn’t shy away from answering and admitted the film’s failure at the box office was difficult to accept.
“what’s happening in all kinds of industries and also in Hollywood, is that there’s a lot of pressure on celebrities to bring up things against Israel,”
“You can always explain and try to give people in the world a context about what’s happening [in Israel] and what the reality is here, but in the end people decide for themselves,” she said. “I was disappointed that the movie was greatly affected by that and didn’t do well at the box office.”

The controversy surrounding Snow White didn’t just come from critics of the film itself. Gadot’s co-star Rachel Zegler, who plays the title role, drew heavy backlash in 2024 when she posted on X, “and always remember, free palestine.” She had written the words while thanking fans for supporting the movie’s trailer.
Gadot, who served in the Israeli Defense Forces between 2004 and 2009, has also been vocal about her support for Israel, especially after the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023. Her statements have often drawn sharp criticism from pro-Palestine supporters, who accuse her of ignoring the suffering of Palestinians.
The film’s troubles didn’t end there. Snow White was banned in Lebanon following its release, adding to the movie’s struggles overseas. Despite the negativity, Gadot still spoke warmly about her time working with Zegler, calling their collaboration “fun” and saying the two shared plenty of laughter on set.
Tensions over Gadot’s political stance recently boiled over in real life as well. At her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, where she was being honored with a star, pro-Palestine and pro-Israel protesters clashed on Hollywood Boulevard.
Police had to step in and even chased down someone accused of stealing a flag from the Israeli side. Emotions ran high, with pro-Palestine demonstrators yelling “Shame on Gal Gadot” as the actress posed for photos. The protest was so disruptive that the ceremony started 15 minutes late.
The event itself was still star-studded, with Gadot joined by Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins and Fast and Furious actor Vin Diesel, both of whom praised her career and resilience. But the loud protests outside underscored how deeply Gadot’s political views and public image are now tied to the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.
For Gadot, the pressure of speaking out while maintaining her career in Hollywood has clearly become part of the story. “I was disappointed that the movie was greatly affected,” she admitted, pointing to how the political storm surrounding her and her co-star carried over into Snow White’s fate at the box office.
