Netflix fans have something exciting to look forward to: a new animated series called Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, based on the popular Tom Clancy video game series.

The show is being produced by Ubisoft Film & Television and is expected to hit the streaming service in late 2025. Recently, fans got a new official look at the series, along with the news that Liev Schreiber will voice Sam Fisher, the main character.

Sam Fisher is a highly skilled field commander leading a secret government unit called Fourth Echelon. The team handles covert counter-terrorism missions, and Schreiber’s voice promises to bring a serious and intense energy to the iconic spy.

The series has been in development for several years. Back in July 2020, Ubisoft first announced that they were creating an animated Splinter Cell show for Netflix. Derek Kolstad, known for writing action-packed projects, is serving as the lead writer and executive producer.

While there were early reports about a two-season order, Kolstad later clarified that only the first season has been officially approved and it will take time before it reaches viewers.

Casting changes have also made headlines. In August 2024, Michael Ironside, who voiced Sam Fisher in the video games, revealed he felt too old to continue the role for TV. Shortly after, Netflix confirmed Schreiber would take over the iconic character and released the first look at the series.

Animation is being handled by Sun Creature Studio, which operates in Denmark and France, along with the French studio Fost. Various sources, including Ubisoft and Netflix, confirm that the series will debut by the end of 2025.

“We’re thrilled to bring Sam Fisher to life in a new way for fans,” said a representative from Ubisoft.

This new animated take on Splinter Cell is shaping up to be a thrilling adventure for fans of the franchise. With a talented cast and production team behind it, expectations are high.
