First Look: Title and Logo Revealed for the New ‘Ice Age’ Movie
This year’s Disney Destination D23 event brought exciting news for animation fans, including a first look at Hoppers, new characters from Toy Story 5, and updates on other popular franchises.
One of the biggest announcements was about the next installment in the Ice Age series. The sixth film in the franchise now has its title, logo, and release date revealed.

The upcoming movie will be called Ice Age: Boiling Point and is scheduled to hit theaters on February 5, 2027. The new logo for the film was also unveiled during the presentation, giving fans their first glimpse of the icy adventure returning to the big screen.
Ice Age: Boiling Point will be produced by 20th Century Animation and distributed by 20th Century Studios. This marks a change for the franchise, as it will be the first theatrical Ice Age film not produced by Blue Sky Studios following the studio’s closure in April 2021.
The movie will continue the story of Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, and Buck. Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Simon Pegg, and Queen Latifah are all set to return to voice their iconic characters.

Romano plays Manny, the woolly mammoth and leader of the Herd. Leguizamo returns as Sid, the ever-chatty ground sloth. Denis Leary voices Diego, the fearless smilodon, while Pegg reprises his role as the one-eyed weasel Buck. Queen Latifah once again voices Ellie, Manny’s wife and a key member of the Herd.
Plans for a sixth Ice Age film have been discussed for years. Back in June 2016, co-director Galen T. Chu mentioned that there were ideas for another film in the franchise, though the project would depend on audience interest and box office results.
In February 2022, producer Lori Forte said of the possibility of a new film, “I think it’s a little premature. We hope that people will respond to this, and that will promote us to be able to do another movie. If the audiences want it, we’ve got plenty of ideas. There’s no end to ideas and adventures and characters, so we’re ready if they’re ready.”
Development moved forward in September 2024, when John Leguizamo confirmed that a sixth Ice Age film was in the works. By November 2024, during the D23 event in Brazil, the project was officially announced with Romano, Leguizamo, Leary, Pegg, and Latifah returning.
Originally, the film was scheduled for a December 18, 2026 release. However, after Disney shifted other major releases, including Avengers: Doomsday, Ice Age: Boiling Point was moved to February 5, 2027, to avoid competition and give the film a better chance to shine at the box office.
With its returning cast, new storylines, and updated animation production, Ice Age: Boiling Point promises to bring both nostalgia and fresh excitement to fans of the icy adventures. Disney and 20th Century Animation are setting the stage for another big chapter in one of the most beloved animated franchises.
