‘The White Lotus’ Season 4 Sets Its Next Destination
The White Lotus is on the move again. Sources told Deadline that the next stop for the HBO series will be France, as creator Mike White prepares Season 4 of the Emmy-winning drama.
HBO has not confirmed the location, but the network has an ongoing deal with the Four Seasons chain, which has served as the backdrop for the show’s previous seasons.
Many believe the famous Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera could be chosen, thanks to its Hollywood history and its setting near Cannes.
However, insiders say nothing has been finalized, and the production may end up using more than one hotel, just as it did in Thailand.
If the French Riviera becomes the focus, it would keep the show in line with past seasons that featured coastal resorts. Season 1 was filmed in Hawaii, Season 2 in Italy, and Season 3 in Thailand.
France, though, may offer a slightly different feel, since Cap-Ferrat is not directly on the beach. Other possible options include the Four Seasons in Paris and another in the French Alps.
Mike White has previously said he wanted to take the series into new territory, while keeping the mix of mystery and murder alive. “For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels,” he said after Season 3 wrapped.
The most recent season, which aired in February 2025, was filmed across Bangkok, Phuket, and Ko Samui.
White wrote and directed all eight episodes, and the cast included Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Sam Rockwell, and Lalisa Manobal, among many others. Natasha Rothwell and Jon Gries returned from earlier seasons.
Season 3 broke viewership records for the series. The finale pulled in more than 6 million viewers across HBO and Max, making it the most-watched episode in the show’s history. Overall, the season gained over five million more viewers than Season 2, and its Thailand filming locations even saw a 65 percent jump in hotel bookings.
Critics had mixed feelings, praising the cast and visuals but pointing out slow pacing and a divisive ending. Still, the season collected 10 Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, along with nods for several actors and for White’s directing and writing.
France feels like a natural next step for The White Lotus. The Riviera has the glamour and wealth that fit the show’s themes, and fans can expect another mix of satire, luxury, and murder.
