Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson are set to star in a new musical drama called Song Sung Blue, and the first trailer for the film has just been released. The movie is inspired by a 2008 documentary by Greg Kohs and tells the story of a real-life couple from Milwaukee who found fame performing as a Neil Diamond tribute band.

Craig Brewer is directing, writing, and co-producing the film. Jackman plays Mike Sardina, and Hudson takes on the role of Claire Sardina, the struggling musicians who became local legends with Neil Diamond tribute band, “Lightning & Thunder.”

The film also features Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens, Jim Belushi, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, Erika Slezak, Hudson Hilbert Hensley, and Sean Allan Krill in supporting roles.

Filming started on October 14, 2024, in Monmouth County, New Jersey, with additional scenes shot at a house in Old Tappan, New Jersey. The production wrapped on December 11, 2024.

The trailer gives fans a first look at Jackman and Hudson bringing the Sardinas’ story to life. It shows glimpses of their performances, the struggles they faced, and the chemistry between the two leads as they chase their dream.

Song Sung Blue is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 25. With its mix of real-life drama and musical performances, it looks set to be a heartwarming and entertaining holiday release.

From my perspective, this film has a lot of potential. Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson are both strong performers, and a story about musicians chasing their dreams is always exciting. The trailer already shows promise, and it will be interesting to see how the full film balances the music and the real-life story. What do you think about this upcoming movie?
