The story follows Wolfe Herd’s journey from college into the fast-paced world of tech startups. It shows her early involvement with Tinder, her struggles in a male-driven industry, and the founding of Bumble, which gave women more control over the online dating experience.
The film also covers Bumble’s rise as a global brand and Wolfe Herd’s milestone of becoming the youngest female self-made billionaire when the company went public in 2021.
The cast includes Lily James in the lead role, with Dan Stevens, Myha’la, Jackson White, and others joining in supporting parts. Filming began in Los Angeles in May 2024 and wrapped by July. The movie’s visuals come from cinematographer Doug Emmett, editing was done by Julia Wong, and the score was composed by Chanda Dancy.
News about the project was first shared in early 2024, when Goldenberg signed on to direct and James was confirmed as the star. More casting announcements followed over the next few months as the film took shape.
Swiped’s trailer highlights Wolfe Herd’s determination to create something different in the dating app world. It shows the challenges she faced, the risks she took, and the larger battle between Bumble and Tinder.
