The Scary Movie series is returning with a new installment. Scary Movie 6 is being produced by Neal H. Moritz, funded by Miramax, and will hit theaters on June 12, 2026, via Paramount Pictures.

Filming started in October 2024 and marks the Wayans brothers’ first collaboration in nearly 20 years. Fans will also see Regina Hall back as Brenda Meeks and Anna Faris reprising her role as Cindy Campbell.

Marlon Wayans has now shared which recent horror films he thinks are perfect for spoofing in the upcoming movie.

Warner Bros. Pictures

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners has emerged as one of 2025’s standout horror films. Set in the Mississippi Delta in 1932, it stars Michael B. Jordan in dual roles as twin brothers who return home and encounter a sinister supernatural presence.

The movie received strong reviews and grossed over $366 million worldwide. With its spooky Southern Gothic atmosphere and supernatural elements, it’s an obvious choice for parody in Scary Movie 6.

2. ‘Get Out’ (2017)

Jordan Peele’s Get Out was a 2017 horror hit that mixed social commentary with psychological thrills. Daniel Kaluuya stars as a young man who uncovers dark secrets while visiting his girlfriend’s family. The film was a major success, earning over $255 million on a modest budget and winning Peele an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

Its tense “meet the parents” moments, hypnotic sequences, and creepy suburban setting make it a perfect target for parody.

3. ‘Nope’ (2022)

Jordan Peele’s NOPE blends sci-fi, horror, and Western elements in a story about siblings, played by Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer, who try to document a UFO over their California ranch. The 2022 film earned $172 million and was praised for its striking visuals and inventive take on alien encounters.

From tense sky-watching scenes to a blood-soaked house and a bizarre balloon sequence, NOPE provides Scary Movie 6 with plenty of material to parody, especially the characters’ extreme risks just to get the perfect footage.

4. ‘Longlegs’ (2024)

Longlegs emerged as one of 2024’s standout horror films, featuring Nicolas Cage as a chilling occult serial killer who has FBI agents tracking him across 1990s Oregon.

Directed by Osgood Perkins, the movie received strong reviews and grossed over $128 million worldwide on a modest budget, becoming Neon’s biggest hit to date. With its eerie ’70s flashbacks, unsettling pale makeup, and Cage’s famously over-the-top performance.

Heretic is a 2024 psychological horror film that follows Mormon missionaries, played by Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East, as they meet the unsettling Mr. Reed, played by Hugh Grant.

The film combines tense domestic horror with darkly comedic moments, earning positive reviews and over $59 million worldwide. Hugh Grant’s creepy, exaggerated performance and the awkward, suspense-filled missionary encounters make it a natural choice for parody.

6. ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ (2025)

The 2025 reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer revives the classic slasher story with a modern update. Taking place 27 years after the original murders, a new hook-wielding killer goes after a group of friends who tried to cover up a fatal accident.

Madelyn Cline and Chase Sui Wonders lead the new cast, while Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. return as their iconic characters. With its exaggerated suspense, familiar faces, and plenty of predictable jump scares, the film gives lots of material to spoof.
