New Trailer for Psychological Thriller ‘The Housemaid’ Unveils Cast Led by Sydney Sweeney
The first trailer for The Housemaid has been released, giving audiences a look at the upcoming psychological thriller from director Paul Feig.
The movie is based on Freida McFadden’s 2022 novel and has a star-studded cast led by Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried.
Sweeney plays Millie Calloway, a young woman working as a housemaid, while Seyfried takes on the role of Nina Winchester, the wife of Brandon Sklenar’s character Andrew Winchester.
Michele Morrone appears as Enzo, a groundskeeper, and Elizabeth Perkins joins the cast as Evelyn Winchester, Andrew’s mother. Mark Grossman plays Scott Crawford, Millie’s first boyfriend.

The screenplay was written by Rebecca Sonnenshine, with Feig directing and producing alongside Todd Lieberman for Hidden Pictures. Feig is also producing with Laura Fischer. Both Sweeney and Seyfried are serving as executive producers on the project, joined by author Freida McFadden and Alex Young.
Casting news began rolling out in late 2024, with Sweeney and Seyfried first announced in October, followed by Sklenar and Morrone later that year. In September 2025, Elizabeth Perkins was confirmed to have joined the film as well, according to Deadline.
Filming began in New Jersey on January 3, and was initially expected to wrap by mid-February. Shooting officially finished in March.
Originally set for release on December 25 The Housemaid will now open in theaters in the United States on December 19. With the trailer now out, fans of psychological thrillers are getting their first glimpse of what promises to be a dark and intense story brought to life by a powerhouse cast.
