Behind the Stunts: Anthony Mackie’s Double Shows Training for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Anthony Mackie’s stunt double, David Charles Warren III, has given fans a first look at the intense training behind Avengers: Doomsday, currently filming at Pinewood Studios in England.
The footage shows the preparation and stunts that go into bringing the upcoming Marvel superhero team-up to life.
Avengers: Doomsday is the fifth Avengers film and the 39th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie is produced by Marvel Studios and AGBO, and will be distributed by Disney. It is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely.
The cast is packed with familiar faces, including Chris Hemsworth, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Robert Downey Jr., and many more. The story features the Avengers teaming up with the Wakandans, the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers, and the X-Men to take on Doctor Doom, played by Downey.
Production began in April at Pinewood Studios under the working title Apple Pie 1. Filming is also taking place in locations such as Bahrain and Windsor Great Park in England. Disney has set the release date for December 18, 2026. Principal photography is expected to last around six months, with editing handled by Jeffrey Ford, who has worked on previous MCU projects.
The film is part of Phase Six of the MCU and will be followed by a sequel, Secret Wars, which is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027. Marvel has confirmed that Doomsday and Secret Wars are being produced in a way similar to Infinity War and Endgame, though they are not being filmed back-to-back.
Production designer Gavin Bocquet, cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel, and costume designer Judianna Makovsky have all returned to work with the Russo brothers.
This project comes after a reshuffling of the previous Avengers plans. Originally, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars were intended to close out Phase Six, with Jonathan Majors reprising his role as Kang the Conqueror. However, the Russos returned to direct, Waldron replaced previous writers, and Downey was cast as the villain Doctor Doom, giving the project a fresh direction.
From the stunt training shared by Mackie’s double to the massive ensemble cast and worldwide filming locations, Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be a major event for Marvel fans.
