Netflix surprised viewers during the Emmys by releasing a new teaser for Stranger Things Season 5. However, most of the footage isn’t new. The teaser mainly reuses clips from the season 5 trailer that came out on July 16, along with some older scenes from season 1 to remind fans of the characters’ journey.

The teaser has very little dialogue. The only lines spoken are, “This thing, it ties us together forever,” “Let’s end this kid,” and Vecna’s now-famous, “Found you.” Many fans were disappointed by the lack of new material. The teaser’s purpose, however, was likely to reach a broader audience at the Emmys who might not have seen the earlier trailer, as noted by sources.

One detail that caught fans’ attention is the TV-MA rating at the start of the teaser. Stranger Things has been rated TV-14 since the first season. While Netflix has updated the rating several times over the years, the series still shows as TV-14 across all seasons on its platform. Some fans think this could mean season 5 will be darker than before, especially with the ominous tone of the teaser.

The teaser also mentions a release date of Thanksgiving (November 27) for Volume 1, though the episodes are actually set to drop on November 26 at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET. For viewers in Europe and other regions, the episodes will appear in the early hours of the 27th.
